Maybe you will get a new one in time for the holidays. :D

I just want it because my walls are paper thin and my current system has fans which makes a tremendous amount of noise. But it is optional. :D

What do you prefer? Intel or AMD? AMD or Nvidia?
I'd go with:
i'm just not sure if it's already 1k dollars. kinda lazy to check online :/
btw, you forget about liquid cooling if you're not planning to overclock.

Well out of the laptops/desktops I ever had, were mainly all Intels and Nvidias.
Oh, I had forgotten to mention storage!

You can submerge your case into oil also! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtufuXLvOok

Woah. o:
I do not think I will...attempt to do that. (I think I'll probably just blow up the computer/electrocute myself)
I'll look into the parts. What is the main difference between i5 and i7 (besides the price)
Comment has been collapsed.
The i5-2500k, according to the intel website, will be discontinued and is slightly (~$10) less than the i5 3570k. I think I'll lean towards the i5-3570k for the slightly faster speed. :D

Ok, I will be using my local retailer price so don't be suprised if the price is cheaper when your buying in newegg.
Btw. I'm not a fan of SSDs
I'll start w/ Nvidia/Intel
Casing: - 50$ or your old casing :P
AMD/ATI
Casing - 120$ or your old casing
There, My suggested build for 1000$ budget

This is good (nvidia/intel) you can get GTX 560 Ti if you don't want to spend much money on the card since there is not a big difference unless if you play games in dx11(I don't find dx 11 that much big of a deal) and maybe put in extra 4gb of ram.

So many parts. I knew I should have pay attention in class instead of play Starcraft or CS.
What is..RAID-10?
Comment has been collapsed.
You combine 2 HDD to double the speed of 2 HDD's. You get only 1TB though because the remaining 1TB are for backup incase 1 HDD dies.
I don't really recommend getting SSDs because I got a bad experience to them and they have a shorter life span than HDD plus they are more expensive.
Comment has been collapsed.
How do I RAID-10 them?
http://www.storagereview.com/ssd_vs_hdd <-- O:
I like how SSD is faster, but I dislike the size capacity and cost.
Comment has been collapsed.
RAID is when you connect several HDDs and make them into one logical disk. Like 2 disks and only C drive, instead of C and D. The data is written in each disk and makes the pc faster.
Btw don't go for seagate, they're not very reliable. western digital has a bit better quality
also, spend some more money on the psu. It's powers up your whole pc. In many cases it's the main reason why pc is not working. I don't get it why people dont give a single fuck about it.
futhermore, don't look at vram on gpu. When it's over 2gb, it doesnt change anything. Many of vram is left unused. It's just a trick to make you buy it for a higher price.

I beg to differ. 4 years and my 2 seagates are still kicking. My 2 WD blacks died in 1.5year. Haven't experienced seagate customer support but Western digital support is pretty good.
The PSU I suggested is the one I'm using atm. And also 7950's has 3gb of VRAMs, what choice do you have?
Comment has been collapsed.
But as fas as i have read, wd has better quality than seagate. Im only telling what ive read.
Psu - cant argue much either. But paying more for a quality psu is better.
Radeon's 3gb wont be very useful. Im just suggesting to go with nvidia, becouse <read my previous post>

Pretty close to my budget. I made a beast.
It runs amazingly. :3

( My total amount was like 950$ because tax added a lot of extra money... damn cali... )
The RAM was posted? :o
I use the stock fan, working great honestly, and then my case had it's own fan as well so that helps lol.
The power supply is 650W.

The RAM just says Dual-Channel...unless that is the name. o:

It's 8gig of RAM. lol :p
8gig is the minimum(Well best) needed.
Though I hear 16gig doesn't hurt.

I wanted to know so I can see the price and reliability. D:

I posted a number of good brands. Corsair is recommended most for reliability and a balance of price. Price is pretty close across the board for ram. If you are shopping on newegg, just pick a part that is at least DDR3-1600, and at least 8GB worth. No point in doing a 16GB kit unless you know you need it, if you dont, then you dont need it. Higher speeds then DDR3-1600 is pointless, or at least you wont "feel" any benifit from it, HOWEVER, if you can find 8GB+ of a higher speed ram for cheap, GO FOR IT!
I saw 8GB of DDR3-1866 for around 50 bucks which is a good deal, but I digress.

Using G.Skill.
Though I believe it doesn't really matter what RAM you get? :p

I rebuilt my PC from the ground up almost.
i5-3570k
Corsair H60 All-in-one liquid loop.
AsRock z77 extreme4
2x4GB Gskill DDR3-1600
OCZ 750Watt PSU
Ended up sidegrading to a 560TI from a 460(256Bit/1GB) at a profit of 30 dollars.*
Kept my case/case fans/4HDDs.
At the cost of about 500-520 bucks. After Rebates.
*Sold my 460 for 140, bought the 560ti for 130(rounded-up after bank fees/tax). Still waiting on the 20 dollar MIR to come back.
Break down -
580 upfront with 10 for new thermal compound that I didnt need derp and for a 16GB kit with has a bad stick of ram. Returned and got 92 back (paid 86 but shhh).
Got a new kit of 2x4 Gskill for about 40, price is now 528.
Got back 35 in MIRs, price goes down to 458.
Sold my old parts (later) for 300+140 for the 460. Price drops to 18.
Bought a new 560 on sale+MIR for 128 (after fees, before MIR).
Complete new system for... 126.
Not bad IMO.

DDR2, as Dainius SHOULD know, is incompatiable with a LGA1155 mobo, so a bad thing.
DDR3-1600 is the norm for a new build, however with prices of RAM as they are now (rock bottom) deals on higher spec ram are not unheard of. 16GB of DDR3-1866 COULD be had for as little as 50 dollars.

Hello there people of the forum, I would like to request for your help. (Assuming that some of you are tech savvy)
I am in need of a new desktop, but I did not pay enough attention in Computer Science classes to understand the parts and comparability.
Okay, so here is what I would LIKE/PREFER:
Budget: <$1000ish via NewEgg
Intention: To play video games & have the computer last roughly up to 4-5 years before getting a new one.
-CPU of at least 2.5ish GHZ or more. (Without overclocking, or if someone can tell me the pros/cons of overclocking) I like Intel, but is there a real difference between AMD and Intel?
-RAM of at least 4GB+
-Video card better than this ancient thing: VideoCard
-Storage: I'd prefer Western Digital, and anything is fine. (I plan on reusing my current one and it is decently sized)
-Unsure of Motherboard and power
I already have a mouse, keyboard, speaker and monitor for use.
So in conclusion, thank you for your help and advice in advance.
Have a pleasant day.
Parts I am leaning towards:
i5-3570k http://ark.intel.com/products/65520/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz BOX : $235.00
