How does Contributor Value work?

I recently gave away my first game, Trine 2:Complete Story (value $19.99). The gift was sent and received, and my contributor value states $19.99. However, when I tried to enter a contributor giveaway with a minimum value of $1, I was told my total contributions were valued at $0. Why is this, and how can i enter these giveaways?
