It is easy :).
First you need to install some libraries /Just run the following command in the terminal/:
sudo apt-get install python-bs4 python-requests python-pil.imagetk python-colorama
Then go to https://github.com/jshackles/idle_master_py and dowload the zip file.
Unzip it somewhere where you will be convenient to use.
In folder Releases you will see to folders - open Linux folder and find settings.txt.
instructions are in Documentation folder - Setup Instructions - Start Here.
Once you do this - open the terminal navigate to idle_master_py-master/Releases/Linux
and execute "python2 start.py"
Important:Before running the script, be sure that the Steam client is running.

3? If you do not change anything you have two: / and swap. Of course you can do - see this guide http://www.howtogeek.com/116742/how-to-create-a-separate-home-partition-after-installing-ubuntu/.
You can do this, or start clean or leave it and if you need to reinstall just to copy your files to an external hard drive.
Just be careful not to lose your files.
Do you have Windows or it is just Linux?

dual boot with windows 7, but i ran into troubles...i think my pc dont like the core of the new lubuntu he keeps crashing randomly (on fresh install)...have to figure it out or wait for new core, or switch lubuntu at all
any recommendation for gaming? i chose lubuntu as he is light on resources...
Comment has been collapsed.
Firstly if you can explain what you mean by "core"? Do you mean Linux kernel?
I use Ubuntu and my system is not so new I am with 15.10 and I am very pleased with the performance and stability - no crashing, no problem at all.
What are the technical specifications of your computer?
For other suggestions - I think you're headed right - Ubuntu is one of the easiest to learn Linux distributions. And most importantly there is an awful lot of information. However if you want look and Fedora - in the latest version they have done very well.
But again, be careful when installing so you do not lose your information.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, perhaps, but better to be sure.:)
Why to wait? If you are sure that the problem is the linux kernel, just replace it. It is easier, and if you have serious problems can always go back and use the old one In.15.10 is 4.2 and i don't have any problems with my system.
Comment has been collapsed.
Of course, no problem :)
If you are with 15.10, then your Linux kernel is 4.2. It is best to tried a first with stable 4.3.
Go to http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.3-wily/ and download and install below packages one by one:
linux-headers-4.3.0-xxx_all.deb
linux-headers-4.3.0-xxx-generic_xxx_i386/amd64.deb
linux-image-4.3.0-xxx-generic_xxx_i386/amd64.deb
Must comply with the order above, or you will get an error.
Choose the file that corresponds to your system if it is 32 bit/i386/ or 64/amd64/.
Once installed, restart the system.
if I encounter a problem: Restart your computer and in Grub select old kernel in Advanced Options. And when the system boot normally run below commands to remove the new kernel: sudo apt-get autoremove linux-image-4.3.0*
Good luck

ok there seems some progress i get this error:
Openbox Syntax Error
One or more XML syntax errors were found while parsing the Openbox configuration files.
See stdout for more information.
The last error seen was in file "/home/administrator/.config/openbox/lububtu-rc.xml" line 1, with message: Start tag expected, '>' not found.
i found this solution to it:
To fix "Openbox Syntax Error...."
but i dont know if to do it as its not a server?!
what do you say?
Comment has been collapsed.
Openbox is your windows manager for your desktop environment..
This has nothing to do with the Linux kernel.Where did you find this solution?
With the command you will move the backup file, but if you have a problem with new installation itself does not know whether it will solve it.
They mean to restart the X-server and not in the sense of a machine - server.
Comment has been collapsed.
i got it from searching google link:
https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=18678.0
so what do you suggest?
Comment has been collapsed.
Unfortunately I do not know anything about Openbox. The only thing I can say is that - whit this command you will move the backup file, which may, but may not fix your problems.
The worst thing is that I can not find, at least in the moment, something that would be helpful in http://ubuntuforums.org or http://forum.lxde.org.

Sorry I can not help you more. Maybe you should try in the forum, someone can have the same problem.
As a final option , why not try Ubuntu or any of his other derivative, or Linux Mint. Most say it is even easier to learn than ubuntu as have facilitated a number of things. And because it is based on Ubuntu and Debian some of the things you will know.
Sorry again :(

Well done! What exactly is the problem with Steam?
What is your video card and what drivers you use? It seems that napstip most likely using open source drivers, this is why I ask you.

The Witcher 2 supports Linux, so you should not have any problems.
I started so many games in recent months, I'm nowhere as a whole.I won yesterday Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, so this is the last I started. The good news is that it works without problems under Linux with Wine
Comment has been collapsed.
i used to do that too, now i try to focus on 1 big game and 2-3 small ones and try to finish them ^_^
i try to not use wine, i dont know why but its leggy for me, so i dual boot games i cant run natively on linux i play on win 8.1 :-S
hopefully in the future all will work on linux...
Comment has been collapsed.
This is a good plan, maybe I should start doing it. But I doubt :)
I see no difference when playing games with Wine or on Windows , just not all run. Yes, and no doubt it is better to just run native games.
I hope to happen, but I doubt this to happen as developers continue to rely on proprietary tools, codecs, etc., who do not have adequate Linux support .
Comment has been collapsed.
well thats what im been told...my first installation was clean but my second as you can see wasn't so much but it worth it.
i have to say windows is easier to install and use but linux especially LUBUNTU runs faster and considering my resources is very welcome so far so good ^_^
Comment has been collapsed.
Steam os. like Ubuntu is Debian-based so if you have problems so deep there will hardly changes. But that does not stop you to try.
If you give a little more information we can try to solve the problem - what is your hardware, what exactly are the problems? You write that you tested old version - which one exactly and how you installed on your system?
Comment has been collapsed.
thanks Forgot about that sorry:
my sys:
dual core 6600 2.40GHz
4gb ram
NVIDIA geforce 7950gt
dual boot win7 and lubuntu 15.10 (64 bit)
old one was lubuntu 14.4
all installs are fresh from CD iso
problems are random crashes sometimes after few sec sometimes after few min
Comment has been collapsed.
I do not see new/I mean like just presented/ or exotic hardware, so if there is no hardware problem I do not see why the system would behave like that.
And these problems are there at a newly installed system - without you doing anything on it /I mean, installing the system, login and errors start/?
Do you install proprietary drivers for your video card?
Do you happen to remember the error message?
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe your problem is due to open source drivers.

Like Skullman said, Idle master requires you to put in your login details. I don't know about the installation, but on it's github page it mentions a instructions.pdf you can look at: https://github.com/jshackles/idle_master_py

And anyway - you cant idle with it for cards ang play on the same steam account at the same time.
Since you mentioned in the post below about low RAM -> there is another good thing to farm cards, but as the autor stated it was designed to farm on multiple accounts at ones. But anyway, it works great and dont use any resourse of the PC at all, do not gets you on the risks of VAC ban and very good working on Linux sistems.
You can check it there: http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/gCxhN/archis-steam-cards-farm-v07

Guys I am noob when it comes to cards, Can anyone explain why farming cards is a big thing? How do we best use these cards? In general what is all the fuss is about?
Comment has been collapsed.
Thank you replying Apthen. What are boosters for, what do they do?
Comment has been collapsed.
In short: these are collectible cards. Card-enabled games have so-called card sets that are made up from 5-16 different cards per set. Collecting a set can let you craft a "badge". Each badge gives you 100 Steam XP. Getting Steam XP earns you levels. Levels let you modify your profile page with additional element, and also each level increases the max places on your friend list by 5.
In shorter: cards can be used for useless profile prettyness and more friend slots.
These cards can also be sold on the Steam market. They usually go for 4-20 cents, but there are rare ones that can go as high as 5 dollars/euros. You can put them up for selling, but each transaction will carry fees, so for example you get 3 cents from a 5-cent card and about 90 cents from a one-dollar card.
It can be more complex, but if you know fantasy battle cards like Magic, Pokémon, or Yo-Gi-Oh, or collectible cards that for example sometimes go with McDonald's kid menus, they are the same, only digital.

Yes. Usually a week before the event, they unlock the badge and introduce the cards. During this period up until the sale ends (before the encore starts), crafting a badge results not in the usual emote + background + random coupon trio but an emote + background + event card. (These are the cards that dropped for voting on the flash sales or participating for hours on end in the clicker game this summer). So this way crafting badges gives you cards that sell initially well on the market, or can be used for free XP.
Yes, because badges also drop event cards, so usually 10 levels of badges = 1100 XP instead of the usual 1000 due to event badge.
This is why you see card collectors amass insane amount during the year and craft like crazy on a single week. My 2.5k current stock is bound to drop at least a thousand cards around the 18th of Decemberm when the event cards should unlock. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Since the new escrow system will be effective the 9 or the 10 of this month, I'd bet that event cards will be available the next day.

Thank you everyone for explaining it so beautifully, I have around 16+ cards, I have listed 4 of them for sale, but was not able to sell any. I hope cads are not region restricted.
Any suggest on some games where we can get rare cards which sell better an commands good value ;-) getting greedy here
Comment has been collapsed.
Rare cards are from rare games, mostly new AAA games, but many non-bundled VN cards sell high too. Out of my current games, Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2, Undertale, and Life is Strange cards sell for a decent amount (over 20 cents apiece). I know that the Sakura games have insane prices too. Out of semi-recent bundle games, School Bus Fun has strangely high prices (there is a reason for that, but that is not on-topic).
If you want to sell cards… it needs a little time, patience, and some experience. The market page of the card itself can tell you all information, including how much did the card sell for in the past time, so you can see for yourself what is a reasonable price. (For most newcomers and their library, this is usually in the 4-10 cent range). Most of the time you can only sell for the lowest listed price and even then, you may have to wait months before a buyer comes. But with the right price, it takes about 2-3 weeks at most for a card to sell.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks buddy, I heard there is another dimension as well Foil card, which commands a higher price.
Comment has been collapsed.
Foil cards are like the ultra/foil/hologram/etc cards in other collectible sets. Any time you would get a card drop (either from playing a game or for opening a booster pack, which is a pack of 3 random cards), there is a 1% chance that the card turns out to be a foil. Foils for games also make a set, but whereas you can make 5 sets of normal cards to make a level 5 badge, foils always have one level. (Sale event foils have more, but they are special.)
Since they are rare, they do indeed go for a higher price. But when a game gets in a 1-dollar bundle or keys are given away free in tens of thousand, the market is flooded with hundreds of foils too.
Let's just say that I have a foil set of 5 cards that cost me 40 cents in total…
But the non-bundle games… well, I am still adamant on getting a foil set for Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2 (and the almost-released XIII-3). It will cost me about 15-20 euros per set…
Comment has been collapsed.
WOW that much!! and are you willing to pay that price to create that set?
Comment has been collapsed.
Most foils, even from new games, don't go for that much. As soon as prices start normalizing a little, they'll net you somewhere between 0,2-1€ (depending a lot on the game). Games like Final Fantasy XIII are a bit of a special case, as the Final Fantasy name carries so much weight.
Enhanced steam does by the way have a neat feature that will show you the value of the cards that can drop from the games that you have. So if you want to get into card farming, that's a good starting point.
Comment has been collapsed.
I am actually thinking about it , if nothing more, it will give me an opportunity to buy a new game every now and then.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep. Eventually. Once I finally manage to clear out my current backlog and reach level 5 badges of those, I'll start focusing slowly on foils. Since I buy very few games and play them for long, I collect cards instead of other games I wouldn't touch.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sorry to cut in the conversation, but is there a Chrome or Firefox extension that can show how many sets you can currently make? I have over 1000 cards and now that I've expanded my library it's getting tedious to click into each badge and see how many sets I can make. I just want a rough idea if I'm going to get close to lvl 30 or 40 for example.
I saw a post on reddit and that guy was selling 70 sets and there was a neat little screencap he had showing 70 badges and how many of each badge. I don't know if it was an extension or a website tool.

SteamTradeMatcher has a feature like that: http://www.steamtradematcher.com/tools/fullsets

I've started using a card farmer one or two weeks ago, I'm using this one: https://github.com/DoctorMcKay/Steam-Card-Farmer
It works natively with linux and doesn't need steam client. It's quite basic: launch the script in a terminal, type login, password, and steamguard code, and let it work. I see 2 main cons: it doesn't let you choose game order or blacklist games, and it supports only the first badge page (if you have many). For this last point, I think it's easy to modify the script so it works with page 2 or page 3 - in fact, I did the modification but didn't try it since I'm far from the end of page 1 :)
In ubuntu, installation of it is very simple, if I remember correctly it's only 2 commands in a root shell:
apt-get install nodejs
npm install -g steam-card-farmer
