aJ a celebration to a new historical low on the Far Cry series and my love for the games (even if ubisoft is ehhh) I'm making a small train of the games, and sadly since I can't buy a key and gifts are restrictep a lot of you are excluded (sorry!)

Hnyway if an->y<- of you have a favorite Far Cry or an interest in one I'd like to know your reasons, personally I love 4 as it was the first of the series I played but also because I thought the story was real interesting and I had a solid bit more fun with it than 3 which lots of people deem their favorite (DLCs are the best in 4 no questions asked but ->6<- is aight too)

Train encoded btw

What are the region locks just out of curiosity?
(Looks like some of their other GAs were restricted to the US for some reason)

NA, BR, UK & Norway, steam gifts are difficult to properly lock so that's why it's weird, oops

Does steam gifting have locks? I thought the only rule was that the gifted game in giftee's region can't be more than +10% from the gifter's. Anything else and below is fine, including -90% should be valid.

3 is still my favorite after all these years, but I must admit that my massive love for both the online co-op and Blood Dragon help prop it up. 4 is a really great game too (love those Buzzers, AKA Bad Ass Mini Chopper's).

Primal is a lot of fun too, and probably kinda underrated. I need to give that another go one of these days. First 2 are okay. 2nd one is just hard enough that it takes away a good portion of the joyful mindlessness, so it's my least favorite. Still need to play 5 & 6, which I will admit is strange since I enjoy 3 & 4 so much.

I agree that Ubisoft sucks, and this isn't a defense, but what AAA publisher doesn't suck nowadays? Ubi is definitely up near the top of the list though.

Thanks for the giveaways (and for an excuse to talk about Far Cry). It's appreciated. :)

Blood Dragon was a real short blast, too short personally but fun nonetheless, I understand why many peoples favorite is 3 as Michael really did a supreme job as Vaad and thought Hoyt pales in comparison he was still pretty solid, mostly overshadowed. Though something just lacked a charm in 3 as I was strangely bored after the first act, but not enough to quick but just enough to notice my declined enjoyement. That's why with 4 where pagan min was with you the whole time I really felt that engagement, also he's a real funny dude to me. With 5 honestly I found the gameplay to be much more interesting and funner than I expected, though I did not enjoy the story, probably because my friend was there and distracted me but it just didn't click. With 6 it was genuinely lack luster even with a companion that I've dropped and shelved it for a year now, though I do intend to finish It that won't be any time soon

Have only played 3 and Blood Dragon so far, Blood Dragon... I didn't really enjoy. 3 itself was great.
1 and 2 I own... but are in the to old looking for me to enjoy in this genre(I am not against the older visuals... it just bothers me).

not entering, but I remember playing far cry 5, and everyone online saying it was mid and pretty bland, and I had a blast with a friend. In terms of story, it was probably the best I played yet (and I played 2, 3, and 5) but gameplay wise, i understand why so many people like 3 the most. I had such high hopes for 3, but I ultimately got disappointed, the story was really short and the endings were both so terrible, especially one of them... However, the gameplay was my fav one for sure, so many things to do and such fun ways to do it.

3 did feel as though it lacked a charm to me, though I definitely see why many deem it the top I like to look at it as a solid entry to the Far Cry formula, but not a perfection of it. And honestly yeah there was that hate for 5 but when I played it myself I realized sometimes you gotta just try it yourself because it was the most fun I had in a bit.

I only have Blood Dragon even worse, bought it and didn't play, so I can't say I have a favorite. But for throwing the series inside US, the 5th game have a special spot in my brain.

Well, they were not anybody's favorite studio already but they've really been trying hard in the past year.
Between the whole "get used to not owing what you pay for", "oops, we're adding subs to games you paid for already" and "yeah sorry you can't play the game you paid for anymore because we want you to buy the latest in the franchise instead"...

They for sure have been more creative in finding ways to piss off their customers than in making unique game content.

Definitely. Although in itself it is starting to look like one of their franchise: variations on a theme. The theme being greed.

I've played 3, 4, 5, blood dragon, primal and New Dawn and 5 is hands down my favorite. I found the gameplay to be the most fun of them all and it definitely has the best characters. The setting and plot is a bit lacking I will admit. I also loved the Mars DLC

Personally yeah 5 is really fun and solid, but I felt offended to New Dawn. Contrary to doing something different each game they reused the same map from 5 and just revamped and dusted it off but hey at least it wasn't as bad as 6 (zzz) , I do think mars was a really fucking good expansion DLC though. Specially since we haven't had any since 4, yet to try the others though, will do those soon.

I really like the first part of it.I still pick it up and go through it to this day.
Graphically it stood out from the other games at the time, the gunplay was good and I liked the story.

Primal is the one I played all the way through. It wasn't a big deal then either. Though at least this one shows that they wanted to do something "different" in some parts ,but after FC3 everything is just a re-skinned part

Far Cry 2 is the best and none of the others yet passed that. It has a believable story, a nice setting, malaria and gun jams. I only wish it had a base conquering like FC3. I definitely don't like acid-runs from FC3 and FC4.

Out of curiosity, how come the region restrictions make no sense whatsoever?

Generally speaking, if the gifter is from the US, which has the highest pricing apart from very few games sold in the EU due to extra taxes in the latter, they -the US gifter- can gift to virtually anyone globally.

So, again, how come the region restrictions are set to the US, Canada, Norway, the UK and Brazil?

These are 3 (the US + Norway + Brazil) or possibly 4 (the UK sometimes has its own pricing) different pricing regions on Steam and are grouped together
yet everyone else cannot be gifted for some obscure, inexplicable reason?

I already own the whole series minus 6 on Ubi and one or two of the titles on Steam so I'm not interested in entering but the stated reason makes no sense.

gifts are restrictep a lot of you are excluded (sorry!)

Didn't know that, gifting is weird and I'm not dealing with a mess after it so I'm just gonna restrict and simplify it, I also used steamdb for the pricing and took whatever had more than a 10% price difference and locked it

You're contradicting yourself.

I also used steamdb for the pricing and took whatever had more than a 10% price difference and locked it

If what you're saying is true, then how come you've included Brazil that has a price difference of over 30% compared to the US in every single one of the giveaways, Far Cry 3, 4, 5 and Primal?

Just as a general rule, if the gifter has the higher pricing, they can gift to anyone else as log as the gifted have the same or lower pricing of the game.
Translation: The self-imposed region locks you made for these were unnecessary for the vast majority of the countries worldwide.

I gifted to someone from brazil so I put it cause I knew for sure it worked. Plus whatever it's region locked if you can't join, as I said, sorry whatever 🤷

I really liked FarCry 5's DLCs, when it comes to the actual games I'm unsure if I like F4 or F5 the most
F6 was alright, fun with a friend, but the story is a bit weak, and you didn't really clash with the big bad, they didn't know each other at all
F3 doesn't hold up compared to any of the games that follows it though, has a good antagonist, but that isn't enough to carry the whole experience IMO.

Oh, and I really liked FC5s DLCs because of their COMPLETELY different experiences
A zombie experience that plays off like a corny movie
A generic Rambo-like experience
And an expansion set on a sci-fi Mars

I'm curious to see how FarCry Pandora is though

Far Cry 3 was the absolute best Far Cry for me - the story was dumb af and the protagonist annoying, but the tropical paradise setting, the gameplay (although sometimes repetitive), just the general feel of it... was just a blast. And most importantly, Michael Mando's incredible performance as my favourite villain every, Vaas Montenegro. What a fucking character.

Excluding the obvious weaker first two games (couldn't get into them), FC4 was the weakest one I played. The setting is alright, but feels way too drab to me. The storyline is just annoying, I did not feel compelled to side with or work with either rebel groups as they both are trash, resulting in a significant lack of purpose. I felt like I was just progressing for the sake of progression, and didn't feel any drive. I had to force myself to finish the game.

Now, Far Cry 5 was another story. It ranks second on my list - finally a change to the usual Far Cry format, and in a good way! Plus absolutely stunning setting, alongside new gameplay features. Locations and camps finally felt unique as opposed to FC3/FC4 "generic bandit camp #138" - exploring buildings and such felt rewarding when you find some hidden loot cache. They ditched the radio towers (FINALLY) while still offering some optional vertical exploration. It did end up dragging on for a bit long I think, as by the end of it I hadn't quite explored everything but felt a bit burned out. Still, I can't complain about having more content rather than less, especially if it's decent content and not just boring copy pasted assets all over the place.

I see while I don't agree personally yknow its nice to hear peoples opinions, specially with FC5 as it had a hate storm around it when it was real solid. For 3 personally I've forgotten if jason's annoying so I can't comment on that but the setting was great and I especially liked the mangroves, though the second act area was a littttle bland. Vaas was a fantastic villain but as I said Hoyt was real solid too, just overshadowed. FC4 while I do agree I hated both sides as both where a rusted coin covered in shit, you could more view it as an evil that is controlled by Pagan Min and is only being held back by him before the country is ruined. I also felt as yhough they where going to elaborate on the minor villains in 4 but as each died quicker and quicker I was left empty, as if more screen time could of really built up that ending climax, Troy also did a great job as Pagan and I loved how he was with you throughout the radio through most of the game unlike 3 where we only had the villains during big reveals and kinda let them die down a bit. Also wow I think that's the first I heard someone say they hated the radio towers, personally i really loved them from the past games lol.

Out of curiosity, do you have any interest in the new Avatar game, as it seems to be essentially be a spin-off Far Cry (or it seems at least).

Haven't gotten to it but I did buy the first 3 trilogy as it seemed like a nice varied set of games. Also have Blood Dragon which I think I'll enjoy as a fun little experience. I kind of had a dismissive feeling to the idea that the other games after 3 were of value, but then I watched a video about 4 and 5, and honestly made they seem pretty damn cool. Slightly disappointed I kind of know about them not from playing, but I wouldn't have even considered them if not having watched those videos.

2 is the one most on my radar though due its immersive mechanics, although maybe actually having to deal with them in game would make me think otherwise.

I wil definitely watch these videos as I really like review and plot videos on games I've played, for Avatar I'm definitely interested but I'm very errr scared... to try it. I was so hyped for 6 i didn't wait for the epic exclusive contract to expire and got it there on sale and well. The hype quickly nose dived lol. But I do like avatar a lot and some of the mechanics do seem cool, especially if there's a stealth factor which is something that I feel was lost with Far Cry after 4 (even if this is just a copy cat of the formula) so I'll probably wait a year and see what the Avatar game drops to. While we're on the topic of rip offs and sequels the leaks regarding the new FC game(s) are really peaking my old die hard interest in the series, a timer on the clock to free yourself and escape? Cool concept, very delicate, but verrrry cool.
