If you made a giveaway, what kind of reason would cause you to request a reroll of the winner and giving it to someone else? (Note: This has not happened to me, I'm just curious).

The two I'd list are:

  1. Winner requests a reroll (maybe because he entered two giveaways for the same game and won both)

  2. Winner contacts me 5 minutes after the giveaway ends and rudely/profanely demands the game NAOOOO!!!!! (also fortunately never happened to me)

What reasons have you/will you do a reroll for?

I'd only do it if they asked me to. Don't give a shit about anything else. Rude about how quickly I deliver, didn't say thank you, fucked my wife, whatever, you won the game fair and square.

I've never rerolled a giveaway I made but people here have listed plenty of reasons to do so. I have personally requested two giveaways that I won be rerolled. One was because I won the same game twice in a short period, the other was because I won a giveaway from a group I had just been kicked from and didn't feel right accepting the win.

I re-rolled few times when:
1) Winner did not activate previous win.
2) Winner already won game I was giving away.
3) Winner won some other game multiple times.

Let's see, looking at my reroll requests I've had to do it because:

  1. Winner was a part of a Steam Group dedicated to those with no wins and the winner had previously won a game.
  2. Winner notified me that he had coincidentally won the same game the prior day and forgot to remove his entry.
  3. I had two giveaways for a game up and somehow the same person won both ^_^
  4. Winner let me know he owned the game already.
  5. Same as 2.

Honestly, I think my favorite out of all my rerolls is number 3. I mean really, how often does that happen? ^_^

More often than you think. I have read so many comments where people say they won the same game twice in a row or one after the other.

I re-rolled once because the winner regifted all of his games and wouldn't have been able to enter because of the contributor value.

User never came online for the 7 day period via sg,steam, or via E-mail. Re-roll for a GOTY winner had base game, and I Never Stated Join For The Extra DLC, I forgot to check once to see if they already own the game. Winner just won at the same time we was doing our massive group giveaways, and it was bound to happen.

I put up multiple giveaways of the same game, and one guy won two of them at once.

I've never had to re-roll any of my giveaways (though I almost got screwed over by someone who took like a week to activate his gift, and it was a key so I couldn't re-roll), but I have had to ask someone else to re-roll when I won Deus Ex: Human Revolution twice in like 48 hours.

I've had to reroll 3 of my giveaways. 2 of them because the winners had forgotten to remove their entries after getting the game elsewhere. One of my recent giveaways I had rerolled because the winner had broken the site's rules.

I've had to re-roll a few. Once because I could not get ahold of the winner and it had been like 2+ weeks. The others because they already (unknowingly) had the game.

2+ weeks? You sure have patience.

Set it and forget it...or send it and forget it, for a time.

Hehe never had to reroll thankfully but the immediate reason in my mind is tht the person already owns the game, or is not part of the group i gave the game away the game in anymore

Look at their "won" list, look at their games list.

If they win them and trade them, and someone else redeems them, then you reroll, doesn't that put you on the hook for giving out used keys?

Oh no, I look at their list before I give them the game.
If they have games in their history that have been won, but dont have them in their steam inventory, i ask for a re-roll.

If they're good, I dont worry too much, but I check those that have won my giveaways about a day later and I would report those that do not activate them, though ive never had to do this.

On one of my giveaways the guy said "Hey I just realized I already have this, go ahead and activate it yourself and I'll mark received!"

It was hella nice but I rerolled and gave it to someone else

You got lucky with your winner there.

The only two reasons I had to reroll are:

  1. The winner requested the reroll cause he won another.
  2. The winner had a game he didn't activate, thus a reroll.

I haven't re-rolled any of my created giveaways, but I did ask for one of my wins to be re-rolled. I decided after winning that I wouldn't play the game enough so thought that someone else should have the chance.

I requested a reroll for one of my giveaways because I noticed the winner had seemingly increased his contributor value by using multiple accounts. Eventually it was rerolled and the person as well as his other accounts was banned.

the winner is on your blacklist, or broke a rule of the GA

I've only asked for a reroll once, it was for a giveaway with a contributor requirement however the winner's CV was largely exploited. Reported the winner and asked for a reroll.

  1. They are no longer in the giveaway group that the giveaway is in.
  2. Winner requests a reroll
  3. Winner contacts me 5 minutes after the giveaway ends and rudely/profanely demands the game.
