It says that the games will be sent there. I thought if you win a raffle, you get contacted by the creator and trade it via steam's friendslist?

It's better NOT to use the steam friends list to contact the winner, since people can change their name&avatar to resemble the winner of a giveaway. Someone stole a gift copy of Skyrim that way. DO use the provided e-mail address to contact the winner.

No offense, but you'd have to be pretty dumb to fall for that. It shows you who wins, and you just click on their name and it takes you to their profile, where you click to go to their steam profile.

But the person who did that contacted him directly, not that the gifter failed to find the right profile.

Why wouldn't you check?

Thieves change their profile picture and name to match that of the winners, so its easy to overlook...

Seriously, people are being hurt here, I think you can show a little sympathy or just stay silent, instead of calling names.

People were changing their name and avatar to Cult and fooled a lot of people in the chat over the last few days. It's an easier scam to pull off than expected. Unless you know what games the person has or their activity. These people that were taken by the scam weren't stupid, just trusting and generous. They don't deserve to be treated like fools.

Lokonopa's explained it very well. It's even worse for people who get scammed or tricked when you say things like "Who would fall for that" or "That's really dumb," because the fact of the matter is that some people are generous and honest, want to give away games to people, and others take advantage of that honesty.

The creator of a giveaway can gift the game that way, but the easiest, and less capable of being scammed, way is to gift it to the e-mail associated with the Steamgifts account.

Does my steamgifts.com email has to be the same as my steam account's email?

No, I think you just need to be logged in to the Steam Ap in order to claim the gift. The e-mail will have a little present to click on and when you do it will redeem it in Steam.

I think.

Yes. That's the email Steam will activate the game on.

No, your Steam e-mail address and Steamgifts e-mail address do not have to be the same. The gift e-mail contains a Steam URL that is being read by the Steam application directly. The Steam application ignores the e-mail account the mail is on. Ignore Cylix' comment above me
