... and i could not even finish the tutorial. The tutorial is tormentingly long, no music in the background, extremely boring presentation and there are just so many things to take note of. Since it is probably not a game for strategy newbies, what would you suggest to be the entry game for me? would Europa Universalis: Rome do the trick?

EU3 instead of EU:Rome

Or even CK2. Those two are the most easy to get into imho.

I found EU:Rome to be easier to get into than EU:3. But that's just me.

It's not that complicated I remember conquering Europe, Africa, Half of Asia with Germany and making the US a nuclear wasteland back in high school, I was like 16 years old and not perfect with English. It just takes more time then other games. And also it's really not a game that many people can play. You shouldn't make your self play it if you aren't enjoying it or having fun.

Watch a let's play on youtube instead of trying to do the tutorial or just start the game and go through the menus. It's pretty easy once you get started.
