Wow .. what's the point.. I have 480 games in my library (+200 which are hidden), I created a bunch of Categories a long time ago and have been cleaning up my list so that everything is at the right place. Today I log to Steam and for some reason every installed game is back into the basic "Games" category and the Not-installed ones stayed it their proper categories. For some reason Don't Starve is the only game that wasn't de-categorized.

Now I have to recategorize everything and I have no way to be sure it won't happen again. SUCKS !!

Anyone else got this happening to their Library ? I'm using Steam Beta, dunno if it played into this.

EDIT

Well if this ever happens to anyone.. I restarted Steam a few times with no results.. then I switch to the basic skin instead of the one I was using, nothing to do my list was f**ked. Then I opted out of the Steam Beta.. BAM .. my classification is back. So Clearly something part of the Steam Beta was screwing with it.

I also use the beta, but don't have this bug. Yes, I dont't have many categories but still they are there.
Happened once, though, but can't remember for what reason and i was quite mad when that happened.

Yes, this happens sometimes, nothing new at all. Be happy you can select multiple games at a time to put into categories now.

Also, I don't know much about it, but you may be able to back up your categories with Depressurizer.

The sort order is stored on your Steam Cloud. Usually when this happens it is because it didn't load from the cloud properly, which usually happens when some Steam servers are offline or there is some congesting between you and them. You should restart immediately if it happens because if you don't, your client might re-sync the new categories when it re-connects.

This used to happen quite often a while back. There was a trick that would make sure your categories synced. It may not be necessary anymore, but I still do it every now and then, especially after I re-arrange my categories. After you set your categories, manually put Steam into offline mode by clicking Steam and selecting "Go Offline..." Close Steam, then start it again, letting it go into offline mode. Then put it back to online mode by clicking Steam and selecting "Go Online..." The explanation behind this at the time was that putting Steam into offline mode forced a sync during shutdown. Normally Steam syncs on shutdown anyway, but if there is any delay, Steam would close without syncing instead of waiting. If you made changes and Steam failed to sync, you might lose those changes after a restart.

Nothing to do with this post; that's the CSS not loading. That can happen when the servers are overloaded.

Same here, restarting doesn´t fix it. Thanks a lot Steam, re-organzing 1200 games isn't fun.

Same, happened to me like a day ago. Only broke the classifications of about 20 games though, and I don't own too many (yet) so it wasn't too annoying...
