Bump for awareness.
Although I know where Yemen is and somehow knew life wasn't easy there, I had no no idea the situation was this dramatic.
I'm sorry you and all other yemenite people are living those terrible events and the rest of the world is silent about it.
I don't think I am a person to judge the actions of either Saudi Arabia or the United States or the media or anyone so I won't enter a debate about who's right and wrong. I think as in most wars there are no rights and wrongs, just conflicting interests of people who want more power - and civilians who have to pay the price of their arrogance.
Anyway, I hope you can be safe and that this situation won't last. Cheers :)

First of, I had no idea the situation is that bad over there. I honestly don't follow any news or media outlet, so no wonder, right? However, I can boldly say that even if I did - I wouldn't hear not 1% of what you've just told us, since I know very well how media works, hence my willingness not to follow it.
I wish you all the best, to stay safe and well.

Information is very confusing.
Therefore, I will not touch the details.
Regardless of religion.
I hope that you can return to peaceful time with local colleagues.

From the places where he uses 'importance' (that is to say, in phrasing where interpreting either of disregard or bitter sarcasm doesn't really match the implementation), the OP does seem to be using the word as "important [in influence enough to be worth the effort of blowing up]", as Yirg indicated.
Even if he did mean it in a more direct sense, it'd still make more sense to interpret any problematic phrasing as being intended as sarcasm, given how those victim stories are being referenced [ie, in being supporting elements for the construction of a narrative of tragedy].

I don't know how you and frozen could'v got that.
You and I and Yirg are all on the same page, no worries.

Rephrase: None of your phrasing suggests you mean anything other than military importance.

Rephrase: Even if you didn't mean military importance, nothing you wrote indicated disrespect to the dead.

As sad as it may sound don't expect any help from the western world. The United Arabic Emirates are our allies despite the fact that when you look at the punishments for various crimes there they are almost identical to the Islamic State.
