First of all I don't really expect anything to come of this, I know DIG employees are active here and I said I would post here so here it is.
I've purchased several bundles from them over the last couple months and decided to go activate them after a hiatus from gaming, this was my first mistake as I should have activated them right away. I found that several of the keys were previously activated (duplicate) keys. Now this is the third instance I've had with DIG where something was wrong, bad keys before (replaced fairly quickly) and an issue with my top up charging me but not receiving credit which were both taken care of. I'll admit my initial email was worded fairly heated.

https://i.imgur.com/kHVLkFT.png (removed list of keys from the image)

This was the reply I got:

https://i.imgur.com/tBvjk9v.png

Picture of my activations with nothing corresponding to the date/time the key they claimed I activated was:

https://i.imgur.com/BRw7aov.png

Basically telling me I'm full of shit and since my profile was private I was shady. I made my profile public and sent them another message saying it was now public and that they could verify I was missing the majority of the games I had listed in the dupe key list, some of the games I had multiple keys of were activated as some of them worked.

Message I received after letting them know I set my profile to public and gave them a list of games that had duplicate keys that were missing from my account:

https://i.imgur.com/iaodY98.png

Final message I received after asking them to verify anything:

https://i.imgur.com/GV0pryC.png

They basically told me well nobody else reported anything wrong so I must be scamming them for what equates to probably about $5, long time customer since 2015, not anymore.
They then claimed that maybe my account was compromised but wouldn't verify it on there end, I considered this possibility but why would they only take 10-20% of the keys since the majority of the keys activated just fine.

Again I don't care if or think anything will come of this, if you learned anything from this just make sure you activate your keys right away just incase something like this comes up, that was my fault since I'm sure they maybe have taken the time if the purchases were more recent but instead just decided that I was scamming them. Also this is a reminder that this company deletes your whole account if you're inactive, on top of deleting your older keys to save database space lol.

List of games that were 'duplicate keys' but not in my account if anyone is bored and wants to see that I don't 'own' them, I'll leave my profile public for now before I slither back into my hole. The good news is I'll save a few bucks buying trash that I have a bad tendency of doing, don't waste money like me folks.

I had a duplicate key here and there, but not reported many at once, but i always got new keys or a refund.
And didn't even had to show screenshots. like if anyone wanted really they could just fake things, like using a duplicate message from something else.
Plus it treats us (there are alot of key (reseller) sites that ask this kind of proof) like we might be idiots that we don't even know how to redeem a steam key.

the difference though that most sites at least know that perhaps its not a smart idea to piss off paying customers.

Then again, i guess they really dont care for customer retentation.

They don't care, i had an issue with a keyreseller site, but since i can't name names, but lets say it starts with a G, refused a refund too, even after i shown clear proof with those screenshots, offcourse you pay them back by just going more to their competitors...

Some even got their amount of negative reviews on sites like trustpilot.com

wish more sites were like IndieGala, maybe it's just because I'm such a good customer and they don't want to lose me, but the rare couple times a key didn't work they issued a replacement very promptly, the only trouble I have is gmail can't seem to accept I trust them and don't want the mail put into spam, I think it has something to do with them using zendesk

damn!... that necro
we were talking about grey market sites, likely G2A. indiegala doesnt have a great reputation, quite a lot of keys have been revoked from their bundles.
however they work directly with developers and publishers, rather than a 3rd Party reseller. not only do they have more keys, its probably easy to re issue new working keys.

it is not entirely true that all grey market sites treat their customers equally. Some will actually replace/refund your order.

wow, talking about amazing and polite support they have

Although my cynical part tells me that from a a site mostly known for mostly pushing shovelware /assetflips /games made to game the system, I wouldnt honestly expect anything more than this kind of behaviour.

Now im not saying they are in the right, mind you.

You want my advice? open a dispute/chargeback if you can, DIG can shove it with their loads and loads of low quality crap.

I used to want to buy up this stuff for game+1 achievements until I realized "profile features limited" on 99% of this stuff made them useless for that purpose.

Maybe the hope is if enough people buy the shovelware the profile features won't be limited and it'd have that value.

It's a shady crap shop....
So each one that expect a good support should question if he buy in the right shop...

And their "nobody else reported a problem" is a standard mail they send in (each) case.

Why they should do a good support ?
They sell crap for cents to people that want +1 (and the newer ones often don't give +1) or use them as "filler" for sg GA's.

And they earn good because they buy/get a good bunch of the games from the shady ru stores and sell them, with a win (or the same people are behind them).
They make a good ammount of money with that scrap games.

What huge amounts of value lost! Now you have to Google for "lowest quality hentai" yourself. Are any of those games even on Steam still?

plenty of those hentai puzzle games are on steam, yeah, even IndieGala will do 12-hour speed sales on a dozen of them for a couple dollars here and there

I just buy them for the lulz to keep my mind off how much I hate my life, never played them, just funny to know I own that shit

They can be weird, I do buy form them quite often and have had a few issues. I have had them accuse me of defrauding them once, because a key was redeemed as something else.

I do have a new huge issue with them however. When you mark a key as used, it disappears from your list entirely. I cannot see my key history from bundle 200~-present when they are marked as used. This is a huge problem when I want to verify something.

But you can still toggle the boxes to show hidden keys. Also they do, i believe remove keys even there eventually, but you can always request an excel sheet from them.

I do toggle, they are all gone, even ones from last week. I have contacted them three times now, and they don't seem to respond to this inquiry. They are good about responding to everything else from me.

"We respond to all of our emails"

Not a response for my issue.

You should store all keys in something like a spreadsheet anyway; there's even dedicated software: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/gkeybank

(DIG let you download the visible keys as a CSV and such.)

As soon as I get the keys, I extract them to another location, but then delete when used. But there are times where I have needed to go back and check for one reason or another. Thanks though!

I didn't expect to be playing the DIG defender here, but are you sure your password isn't compromised? Using the same password on many sites, or a very simple one? Or using some shared PC(s)?
Perhaps you can ask DIG for the ten most recent IPs that logged into your account (and their locations?).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I considered this but they wouldn't confirm it on their end via IP or anything that my account was compromised. I use unique passwords for every bundle site and use a password manager, my reasoning as to why my account probably wasn't compromised is because a majority of the keys did work on top of having remaining balance that I would assume anyone stealing my keys would have cashed in for additional bundles.

Maybe someone got access to your keys. Send a few of them to Steam support and find out the date and time they were activated.

On the other side of the coin, DIG support could do that as well. If they were all activated after you received them, this could be why they have an issue and not wanting to give you replacements.

Permalink

Does Steam support still give out that information? I used to be able to get the activation date/time from steam support but the last time I did it, months ago, I got a reply saying they don't give out that info.

I've never had any issue getting the date or time.

Are you asking them who activated it?

Are you making it a habit of asking them constantly?

No I only asked for the date/time. I wasn't making a habit of it. I don't remember making another comment on it unless it was months ago.

How many times total have you requested this from steam support? I think I asked maybe 3 or 4 times total but it was generally months apart. Maybe once I asked a few weeks apart

DIG seems sus because you need at least 0.01 cents in your account to enter their free giveaways, so they are clearly pining for credit card access for it's own sake.

Okay, maybe something happened where your keys were stolen. But Fate is right. If by coincidence they were used after you revealed them, you might look guilty, even if you're not.

I still find the replies from DIG highly unprofessional and kinda hilarious though. Even if you were angry in your email to them, they should remain dignified and professional in their responses. Even if he/she happened to be right, they sound like an angsty teenager with the way they replied. You don't accuse, you make the person aware that those keys were activated by an account a few days ago and that you would like them to unlock their profile to confirm the games are not on there. You don't lead with... "YOU activated the keys."

I would be really annoyed as a customer if I reached out to support over genuinely duplicate keys and they outright accused me of trying to scam them. LMAO!

If they are both the developer and distributor of some of those games then they should be able to revoke those specific keys and issue new ones. As for their wording, "NOBODY reported any issues", that an interesting statement as you reported the issue, unless your name is Nobody. Then again them telling you that you reported these issues seems kind of silly.

Have you tried to reverse the charges as they did not provide the products you ordered?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah I really didn't understand why they couldn't just ask me if they wanted to revoke those keys and issue new ones, they seemed really offended by my initial email and just decided it was easier to call me a scammer for ~$5. Seems like they just took the nuclear option instead of appeasing a long time customer. I'm not sure if I would be able to reverse some of the older charges but luckily some of my newer bundle purchases seemed to all work, I'll probably just end up eating the cost of the other keys, not sure if it would cause issues where they completely revoke all the charged back bundles, some of which I purchased because some of the games were and are being pulled from Steam, I collect useless games.

I've had mixed experiences. In the past year or so I've always had very good service from them when reporting issues.

I think if you're reporting duplicates for games which they already know are dodgy, they will give you multiple replacement keys without a second thought. And I suppose it says a lot about the store that, very often, they are well aware that many of their keys are definitely extremely dodgy.

A few years back I had a terrible experience with them after issues with a key worth the massive sum of TWENTY PENCE and couldn't believe how rude, dismissive and unhelpful they were. I told them I was surprised at the treatment based on previous experiences, and they told me that actually, they were giving me great customer service, because they sent me their (rude, dismissive and unhelpful) responses quite quickly. And then, when they finally conceded and gave me a refund, they made sure to imply that I was being an asshole for asking for a refund or replacement for such a cheap key...

The replies from DIG show an air of arrogance and egotism. Sending emails to people that say "nobody else reported a problem" when people report a problem is definitely a bad move. While many people will not have issues, some people will . They seem to act like everyone who reports a problem is a scammer. Don't get me wrong, there are people who will try to scam a site like DIG but there are also innocent customers but they seem to think that all people who report issues are scammers. They seem to have the mindset and attitude of a child.

On the other hand, it is possible that you got hacked and someone got hold of your keys and used them. I see in a previous post that you said that you considered this but mentioned that DIG wouldn't confirm IP address or anything.

Looking at what happen it seems that their support system "If you have any issues, don't come to use for help". It seems their support system is there to make people believe that they do care but their responses say different.

Wow that is extremely unprofessional.

I've had my fair share of problems dealing with revoked keys in the past, I have lost almost all faith towards indie bundle sites like these. Although most are still quite professional, but since my purchases are years ago, more than half of my revoked unused keys are not replaced. Including Indie Gala, Fanatical, Groupees. So far the least problem I have faced are from Humble Bundle.

I have learnt to just let it go. Learn from the mistake, take the hit and accept the fact that some of my keys are no longer working, ask for permission from my GA winners to delete GA, and/or take the 'Not Received' mark anyway.

I have stopped buying indie bundles since many years ago. Some are pretty unreliable.

But again, the replies from them are extremely unprofessional. I'm not their customer, but thanks to you, I will never be.

I have a question, did you reveal the keys now or before when you bought it at that time. That can explain why the keys are now duplicate.

Permalink

I revealed them as I was trying to activate them, they were still unrevealed.

Comment has been collapsed.

In the case of unrevealed, what usually happens is that you are entitled to a key since you paid for it but it is unassigned until you reveal it. If you don't reveal it right away, it's highly likely the key is duplicate since they can only have so much in the pool.

In this case, they probably won't since it has been awhile but they should replace it.

List of games that were 'duplicate keys' but not in my account if anyone is bored and wants to see that I don't 'own' the

I know there's a way you can type names of games one by one into the search bar on a person's game list to find it, but wasn't there also some site which you could just paste a bunch of game IDs in a single input and then compare it to a user account? I forget what it's called.

These guys should be blacklisting companies like Hede who suspiciously hike up the value of their shovelware in the steam store, so their continuing to work with them has my warning lights lit and what you're saying sounds believable.
