I will purchase Mass Effect 3, at 75% off, immediately - but only if it was also on Steam.

Not about fandom, it's about my purchasing preference. Simply stating that that money is available, if pride could be put aside.

So its about Business and Marketing? so tell me how is cutting off half or maybe 90% of the pc community good for either? Ill rather have my game accessible wherever to make more money no?

Dear neverthrowacat,
We will not distribute Mass Effect 3 on Steam, because we want to make $$$ with DLCs.
That it all.

Hi EA,
Thanks for the prompt response. I fail to see the logic to your comments. All those "$$$" are yours to have, simply by distributing via my preferred client.

honestly, i think that ea will release the games... maybe even a full trilogy pack with ALL the dlc... on steam eventually. i see no reason not to, the only reason its origin exclusive is to push the platform as much as possible. when theyve made all the cash they think they can from origin exclusivity, the'll bundle it with the dlc (like they did for dragon age origins ultimate) on steam to make even more money.
crysis 2 proves that ea isnt against releasing games on steam.. they just want to give their platform preference, which i cant blame them for. im 90% sure you'll not only see me3 eventually on steam, but full all-dlc inclusive versions of each game eventually.
and thats why i havent bought any of the games yet ;)

That's my hope too.... surely they have enough business acumen to realize that, given sufficient time, anyone who would buy on Origin will have bought on Origin - leaving no reason not to cause a resurgence in sales thorough another marketplace.
I only raise the point as, like you, I can see so many EA games on Steam already, but find ME3's absence disappointing.

Lots of other EA games on Steam though... Sims 3, ME, and ME2 spring to mind first. Would it be a similar partner vs. publisher situation for these releases?

That was when EA wasn't into their Origin thing. Now every EA game - especially if it has DLCs - will be sold on Origin (respectively retails will be only Origin keys) and not on Steam.
Examples: Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 3, FIFA, Crysis 3, Battlefield 3...

Origin isn't that bad, I have tons of free games on it and the in game overlay is much better then in Steam. Customer service sucks, but is faster then Steam at least. The digital Deluxe version is 50% off now on GMG and I'll be buying it, since i just yesterday finished ME2.

I actually think Origin's customer service is better than Steam's. They've always been able to help me out and also throws me 15% coupon codes for the inconvenience.

So only 6 people had problems with it is what you're saying? Or are those 7 people meant to

I bought it on Origin. Works great! Not sure what all the hub bub is about! :D

I WILL PURCHASE IF YOU FREEeeAAaaKIN DON'T DO SUCH POOR CONSOLE PORTS !!!!
I'm sorry, but I like the series and ME3 FREEeeAAaaKIN SUX !!!...for me the gameplay and the graphics seemed WAAAYYYY better at ME2 (BTW I have the game on origin even if I'm sad, I have purchased it upon the release)

Except the Origin is actually functional and doesn't impede on actually playing the game, unlike, say, GFWL. Granted I hate EA and their business practises, including forcing their big titles to Origin.
But as far as ME3 goes, you're silly if you think that it being on Steam means you won't have to deal with Origin. The multiplayer component requires it, and the DLC scheme they're pursuing would conflict with Valve's terms (hence why Crysis 2 and DA2 were taken down). Not only that, but take a look at Warp. It's on Steam, and yet unless I'm reading that fine print incorrectly it requires Origin anyway.
Face it, EA are megadicks. And you may be a megadick for blind devotion to one distributor.

Does Origin still snoop around all your private folders, or have EA taught their errant little upstart some basic manners now?

Don't buy it even if by some miraculous event it will be avaiable on Steam- you will only get dissapointed during final mission ;)

That I'll agree with- Vorcha forever! <3. But still, storyline should matter more than a multi in an action-RPG game. And they've made some stupid updates which kind of contradicts Mass Effect lore- volus vanguards? Really?

<spoilers ahead, obviously>What? You want to tell me you didn't like the idea of focusing all resources avaiable into building a machine which nobody knows how and if it will work instead of actually fighting the Reapers? o.O You are a strange man, Chromie...
But yeah, as I think about it, it sucked big time- whether it's the Catalyst, the way they handled Cerberus's fate (as far as TIM is concerned, they just made the same things which happened to Saren- indoctrinated by believing he is doing the right thing, at the end convinced by Shepard he's not commits cuicide...) or even small things like second human spectre (c'mon, you don't have better soldiers in Alliance than Ash or Kaidan?). But the ending was the most important, and the crappiest part of all, whether it's logical errors, spoiling the lore or my favourite- Stargazer [edit: lol, I forgot about Godkid- he even beats everything with his "nananana-I-can't-hear-you!" philosophy... yeah, I've wasted couple of hours forging alliance between Geths and Quarian, and he tells me that synthethics cannot co-exist with organics...]!

I will purchase Mass effect 3 double the price as well as battlefield 3 if it was on steam. I will not purchase it on Origin. Sincerely a Steam user who will never change platforms.

Dear neverthrowacat,
I will allow your next thread to remain open - if it is not yet another "wahh, wahh, Origin" thread.
That is all.
