Looks awkward but a lot of controllers look awkward to me but turn out comfortable.

The worst part is going to be getting used to the trackpads in place of the sticks, but once you bridge that little gap, you have the ability to customise them and ultimately function in games that sticks wouldn't be so hot at. It still won't compare to a keyboard and mouse in terms of flexibility and absolute precision in twitch gaming, but I think it's a cool alternative, especially for a PC gaming console.

Still haven't seen the central display panel in action, and the feedback system is something you'd have to experience for yourself, but I'm still interested in this. Have they revealed a price, yet? I imagine a dual-trackpad + micro-display controller won't be dirt cheap.

steam box is not a console its probably a custom mATX case with a linux on it. You can put a linux on your own computer or wait for valve modifications for it.

While it does look VERY precise but it looks kinda slow to move around but well see.

Looks like preference, probably can speed it up to super if you like, at least thats what it sounds like.

That looks so much nicer in action than I was expecting it to look.

Seems good for most things (especially couch gaming things), but definitely different, so it'll be nice to have a third option around (besides normal controllers and kb/mouse). Still looks too slow for precision aiming in Counter-Strike (especially since those aren't moving player targets), but that's about what I expected so no real surprises here -- and CS is a specific case, I'm sure it'd work fine for most console competitive FPS titles (Halo, CoD, BF, et al.).
Thanks for sharing the link!

Yeah I would not play Unreal Tournament with it but most FPS games should be slow enough, at the least I can finally enjoy single player ones on my bed in comfort...

next time Valve show some Devil May Cry or Street Fighter because I have no idea how can those type of games be played on that thing

Probably very similar to other traditional controller, with this video they wanted to show us what it looks like for games we usually play with a keyboard and a mouse.

I remember in one of the original announce things they mentioned that the trackpads can be configured to act as multiple buttons in place of a directional input. For instance, you could map four opposite points of the right trackpad to be buttons corresponding to those of an xbox controller.

seems imprecise. Noticed he had to slow way down to click the menus as he got closer to them in civ 5 and the shooter game to way to long to get an accurate shot

That actually looks pretty good. I always thought the best controller would be something like the 360 controller but with a trackball in place of the right stick but the trackpads might do the trick.

Kinda not digging the pad working like a mouse/trackball, where you can't turn in full continuous circles, but instead have to swipe your thumb across the pad numerous times (like picking a mouse up to recenter it)

It's configurable -- you can do either, among other things.
