I picked up that Legacy of Kain bundle and the Supreme Commander 2 for about $10 total together. I was so pleased with the price of the games I bought another copy of the Legacy of Kain bundle on GG to gift on here.. something to get me out of the $30 bundle contributor cap.

My question is how do I get the keys for my gift copies? My personal copies I activated and then I saw an option for the keys. I'm pretty sure I can't do that again. I don't want to start a giveaway and then have a winner without a gamersgate account?

Edit: Because it wasn't clear I bought the games on GG. they're in my shelf. When activated they generate keys that are steam redeemable.

Edit2: Giveaway Link I'll probably make another thread to formally advertise it but feel free to share it around social media and whatever.

There's no function for that here - you'd have to "run" some sort of giveaway/contest/etc in the forums.

Ask them to make one?

You bought as gift? requires a user/mail to convert into user (worst option due to problems and time) Or you simply bought? (it should be on your shelf just reveal the keys (limited to 2 keys per item).

they're on my shelf and from what i can tell you can gift things on your shelf if you haven't activated them or revealed the code. Since I already have a copy activated I didn't think I'd be able to activate another set of codes.

If I CAN have 2 keys per game then that would be my simplest solution. I might still do the private giveaway because why not give someone the game in two stores if I can.

Yeah, its convenient to have an extra copy at GG.

As others have said, if you bought it as a GamersGate gift, ask the winner to make a GG account (also mention in the giveaway description that this applies) and then gift it to them in GG.

If you just bought it and it is on your shelf, just reveal the keys and email them / send them in chat.

Not allowed. Steam keys/ games only.

We're talking about a GG gift that, when activated, provides a Steam key. I've won such giveaways twice and I fail to comprehend why that could possibly be against the rules.

Ah sorry. I took it to be a key for GG. OP did not mention it provides a steam key.

apologies I thought with all the GG ads for Legacy of Kain on here most people would have assumed correctly that these games activate on steam

There's a reason this site is called SteamGifts. If it is not a key then you CANNOT gift it, you will be in serious trouble if you do. Best idea would be to just keep it for yourself or give it away on the forums.

EDIT: Ah so it activates a key once you get it? Why not just activate the gamersgate gift on your account then give the key away... not that big of a deal tbh

Legacy of Kain games and Supreme Commander 2 are steamworks. There's no problem in gifting through gamersgate. I've done it myself.

You might want to clarify that post. Steam Gifts are not keys, and there are keys that don't activate on Steam.

The rules state that "All games must be Steam-redeemable." A Steam key delivered to your GamersGate account certainly qualifies.

Edit: Your edit ninja'd me.

Because I've already activated a copy for myself. I assume that like steam I can't activate another copy of a game I already own.

You can have multiple copies of same game.
In game list it will be:
Game name (number of copies)
It will show keys like:
Copy 1 of this product

Activation Code:

This is a Steam activation code.

What the guy above me said. That and if you're really that miffed about it, just make a new account and activate the gift on that account. It really doesn't matter tbh.

That was my point :P GG gives you a Steam key once you've accepted a GG gift... Which you can then activate.

GamersGate don't allow you to see keys you've bought as gifts so OP would need to make giveaway then gift GG gift to winner once winner has made themselves a GG account. Then winner needs to reveal Steam key from their GG gift and then activate. It's a lot of faff really.

Or I suppose OP could make a second GG account, gift themselves the GG gift and then reveal keys and then send the keys as normal to the winner.

I believe he would have to make it a private giveaway if the winner is required to create a GamersGate-account to receive the gift. That's because public giveaways aren't allowed to have special rules.

ok so this looks like it could work. If i make a private giveaway I could tell them that they need a GG account. Kinda just wanna give it away so far that looks like the best idea

I wouldn't say it's a special rule as such, more just extra faff once the giveaway has finished.

But, yes making it as private would avoid the grey area between what I think is faff and what you think is a rule.

Yeah, I'm not sure if people would consider that a special rule or not, but I do. In the worst case scenario, the winner could be a stubborn person who insisted on not creating a GamersGate-account. If the giveaway is private and it's clearly stated the winner won't get the gift unless they have a GG-account, rerolling won't be a problem. Just like you said, making it private should avoid any controversy.

No? Hence why I said get the winner to make a GG account, gift him/her the GG gift... I just didn't imply the extra work that the winner does in having to click 'Reveal Key', copy-pasta into Steam and redeem.

I knew full well that GG gave Steam keys.

Just make a second GG account, gift it there and reveal the keys. Copy-pasta keys into Steam chat / email to the winner when giveaway ends?

You can buy more than once on your account. You will have a second set of keys. That's what I did. (GG wouldn't let me buy a third pack though)

Here's how it looks like

The only time it doesn't work like that is when you buy a 4-pack. Only one key is accessible and you have to gift the rest. However, you can gift it to your own email and receive the gift from the same account where you sent it, giving you access to the key.

As an alternative, you could always gift the game, on Gamersgate, to the email address of the recipient. However if the person doesn't use GamersGate it might be an annoyance for them.

I don't think you even need to make another GG account. Just gift the second copy to your own email address (the one tied to your original GG account).

Edit: ninja'd by Zomby2D. I guess you only need to use the email-to-self loophole with 4-packs.
