Which is a better game Terraria or Starbound? What if I have a mac? Has anyone been able to play terraria well with ok frame rates on mac using WINE? Do any of you know the Terraria 2 approximate release date? Are Terria or Starbound even good games?

Minecraft, all the games are similar now and will be similar after, you should keep with Minecraft and Terraria mate.

I suppose we shouldn't bother playing any platformer after the original Mario either then?
Or any shooter after Wolfenstein?
Or...you get the idea. Games evolve, and this is how they do it.

If you're so interested in purchasing them but aren't sure you can always pirate them and figure out for yourself.

Haven't played Starbound but I do have Terraria. It's fun when you start out, but I for one got bored when I finished all the bosses and was left with grinding mats for armor. If building stuff is more your thing get Minecraft. I liked Minecraft more than Terraria, it reminds me of playing with Lego as a kid :)

At the moment, there doesn't seem to be a mac version of terraria. starboard is in beta and has some issues, but so far is really fun.

Terraria 2 and terraira 3 its kinda unclear for me, is terraria 2 and 3 are updates or sequal that requires more money, because i have Terraria 1 . it was more clean if they whould say its just an update for terraria not a sequal to make terraria 2 that is diffrent then terraria 1 and terraria 3 will be even more different then teraria 2. kinda pointless.

Meanwhile starbound also looks interesting but terraria is fully released game, starbound is on beta...beta stage. basicly i don't see problem to play both if you want to play starbound instead of Terraria we don't care as long as you enjoy both.

Terraria was great on PC but seems that after seeing the quick look on Giant Bomb with Starbound that it's a lot like Terraria but a lot better with some of the UI as well as the fact that you are in space able to go to a wide variety of planets plus multiplayer but it is pretty much Minecraft in 2 dimensions on if you'll like it or not. Plus neither Terraria or Starbound are above $20 so cheap enough to get without being silly to resort to getting the game other ways.

Since Starbound is close enough to being Terraria2, that one might be a while off especially since Starbound is in early release on steam so it's still being worked on but in a fun playable state.

Starbound even in beta is far better than Terraria.

Bad timing, you should ask this when both of the games are released in their final state.

Something i've noticed: I guess most people haven't gotten any further but chopping trees in Terraria. I mean come on Terraria goes really pretty deep. It has almost everything that Starbound has and even more.

The difference with Starbound so far is that for one Starbound offers a truckload of decorative items. And second, the content in Starbound is being spread over different constellations, creating an illusion of complexity while it's really just another map you're visiting.

I don't mean to bash on Starbound but in it's current state when it comes to beating Terraria, it's just not there yet. But hey that's what beta's are for!

beta. . . there is hunting coming in, city building . . . the current build only has half of the features. . . what people are talking about, right now, is the base build (in beta) right now. It surpasses Terraria. Though both are good games. . . Starbound deals with most of the issues in that game (ie cutting down on the tedium of digging a bit).

I can see what you say there.. there's definately something to it. But for me it's just not there yet. The innovating mechanisms are awesome, i agree on that. The thing that bothers me is that even though there is a truckload of content the experience still has a generic feeling to it.. Anyways, i liked the latest update with the grass sprites and other tiny details, good things are bound to happen. ;)

Terraria 2 is only just announced. Not much is known about it yet. Not even a release date.
There is gonna be quests and maybe a level system. I can't remember much right now.

Yes, they are all good games.
I only played Terraria so far. Starbound is ok and it's nice how they added more content and even quests.
