Haha, that's what I did, explore, explore, and explore some more! :D

i wouldn't consider alpha protocol a bad game. it just isnt very polished and the graphics are sub par. gameplay wise is so-so. the story, chars and the presetation are outstanding.in my opinion one of the best new IP RPGs. a sequel could "upgrade" the dated graphics and enhcance the gaemplay and hopefully give the game the recognition it deserves

Could try alpha protocol, it seems to be quite cheap nowadays.

Slightly off topic but Mafia is my favorite game, i have played almost all of them(except star wars and the witcher 1) and i must say they are all great games. Also Dirk Nowitzki is my favorite basketball player, so you sir rock.

If you're not afraid of retro graphics, try Spiderweb games (Avernum: Escape From the Pit, The Geneforge Saga, etc.) Save Avadon for last though, it's not as good as the others.
Also I've heard some good about Basilisk games (Eschalon: book 1 & 2).

Avadon was designed to be functional on the iPad so the maps are ridiculously stretched out. Also the skill trees are way too restrictive, you can't really play the way you want.
I first bought Avernum: Escape from the pit on a whim when it was released on Steam and ended up clocking in 90 hours. After that I started auto-buying all SpiderWeb games... :D
I'm currently playing through the first Geneforge and having a blast so far (30+ hours in), it's like exploring the island from Lost :D Storytelling and lore are as tight as ever, I can't recommend it highly enough!

I played it with the default controls and I don't think is unplayable. There is also an alternative controls set for the traditional WASD system. Did you try it?

I did and also tried with a gamepad but it's still horrible IMO. It's the first time I've had to give up on a game because of the controls.
I spent 3 hours trying to get used to it, getting killed over and over by pretty much any enemy I would cross at the beginning. Are you just supposed to avoid combat entirely and run to the guards?
Sidestepping is useless and backpeddling seems to work once in a while, when the keystrokes actually register that is. I had heard a lot of good things about this game but so far it's been a huge disappointment.

Basically, yes. You can beat young animals only without any risk at the very beginning of the game.

Haha, are you me? I've played all of 'em and think like that too! :D

Just what the title says, good Role-playing games and games that have a good story. Open world games are nice too. Thanks in advance guys! And I know there are threads about this already, sorry about that
