...and if so, did you like the outcome? The only game I ever pre-ordered was Abyss Odyssey (and I still didn't have time to try it), anything that ACE Team does is an insta-buy for me and I want to support them as a studio.

To actually support the providers of a product you adore with more money? Because you value their work a lot and try to consciously express that?
I timed buying VA-11 Hall-A intentionally on an occasion when it was not on sale for eg. I am planning on getting it for others too as I believe the game is a gem worthy of sharing.
Sure it was not a preorder (did that too, twice, regret the last occasion and never did so since), but I can imagine many of us with similar sentiment when it comes to preorders as well.

Metro Redux bundle, and it was absolutely worth it.

Same, except I can't play them yet because they won't start up for many of us. The more higher-end the machine the more likely that it won't work. One of the developers added me as a friend on Steam to see if they could figure it out. They didn't do extensive testing before launch because they didn't expect problems with the new engine.

i thought the problem was gone after two patches.
they'll fix it soon though. 4A are one of the best game devs i've come around.

They worked on the AMD Phenom crashes and Win8 issues with the first two patches, but that still leaves a bunch of us that can't play it yet. I'm not too worried. I've got tons of other stuff to play in the meantime.

I usually pre-order all of the major Nintendo titles. Outside of Nintendo, the only thing I've ever pre-ordered was Aliens: Colonial Marines Collector's Edition. Such a letdown....

I am honestly so sorry about that, the aliens things

It's very rare that I pre-order anything. I believe the last two things would be Dark Souls II (which I loved) and Tales of Xillia (not so much). The next things will probably be the Steam versions of Ground Zeroes and MGS V.

Anything from Media Molecule is an insta-buy for me. I used to pre-order lots of consoles games. Examples: Batman AC, TASM, LBP 2, NFS Rivals, Tearaway etc. I was a bit disappointed with Rivals though. :P

Yes, Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Batman: Arkham Origins, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, The Witcher 3, Alien: Isolation and probably more. Batman was a slight letdown, but still a solid game. Borderlands 2 and Skyrim are great games! Don't know about the rest yet.

I preordered a special steel case edition of Batman AC from amazon back in the day and I totally love this game. I preordered it, since there was actually the risk that it might run out of stock. Preordering digital content is imo rather pointless.

I pre-order if I'm sure I'll like the game, and I can save some money by pre-ordering. If there is no discount or bonus, or only a multiplayer bonus, I don't pre-order.

Well, I'm rather skeptical about the "saving money" part, seeing how fast games get significantly discounted nowadays, so I usually wait for some months after the release.

Yeah, but the games I pre-order, I want to play immediately. I'm also waiting for good sales on a dozen games I'm sure I'll enjoy, just not $60 enjoy. The ones I have pre-ordered have all been worth it to me. Though, Alien: Isolation will probably disappoint, I paid $20 for it and two other games, so it won't bother me as much.

Call of Duty: MW3.
It felt really good playing that game the same day it released. Also I waited so long for the game to release

Nope, never. And I don't think I ever will.
Why pre-order games when I can wait a few months for them to drop in price AND get some of the initial bugs and glitches fixed :)

It depends on the games. For example, you'll be waiting years until GTA V price drops (the PC version), not months

The price of GTA V dropped more steadily than you'd expect at my local gamestop.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's still 55$ on gamestop site. Unless you're talking about used games, those are cheaper but they won't work online afaik. And it's the last-gen console version, you'll need to wait even longer before the PC version price drops

I've pre-ordered a bunch of games and liked the outcome on most. Aliens CM is the only one I can think of that I didn't like. Also shitty ports is a reason why other games would be disappointing for me.

Hitman Absolution. It was okay. Wouldn't have pre-ordered it had I known then that Steam has sales very often. Bioshock Infinite. Loved it. Watch Dogs. Loved it also. NBA2K15. So hyped!

Yes. BioShock: Infinite and Resident Evil 6.

I was satisfied with both.

And if Outlast had pre-order on Steam then I also pre-ordered this one. I think it had a pre-order.

Bioshock Infinite... for the only reason that I calculated that if it turned out to be shit, the free XCOM:Enemy Unknown that came with it would make it worth it (and I thought of it as a Christmas present for myself)... it never came to that. :D
Since nothing else has gives such a good reward for pre-ordering (in fact most of them are shit) and on top of that I have 0 trust in most companies nowadays (I had at least SOME trust in the creators of Bioshock) I am unlikely to be dumb enough to pre-order any of the hype trains that are coming out now.

2,71€ for Game+Seasonpass after selling preorder extras :D

I didn't get the seasonpass for some reason, I was really pissed about that. I literally just got the promised game, I didn't get the clash in the clouds or the reskins or anything. I really don't know why I only got the game and none of the DLC.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If I recall correctly the Season Pass was not included in the pre-order itself. Pre-ordering did let you play a small browser puzzle game before the main game's release which gave you a code for a small rewards DLC (Industrial Revolution Rewards Pack) but the Season Pass was completely separate.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, it was technically not included, but game included 20% back as credit, which was enough for season pass.

To be honest that's exactly what I did. I was like "look. If Bioshock infinite isn't that great, at least I get a good game included in the purchase AND the original Bioshock. So no worries. ...Plus... I GET HATS! HATS! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!"
