Try to get in touch with the guy via Steam or e-mail, and if that fails, mark the gift as not received in a week.
Could be that he was scammed after he sent the gift to your e-mail address, could be that he got cold feet and simply wants to keep the extra copy after all.

Double check your Steam account. There seems to be a bug when redeeming gifts where it redeems it and then pops up a window saying "this gift has already been redeemed, you lose, good day sir" <-that image you posted.
Just check, it might be redeemed to your account.

I have won Half Life 2 from the Account with the E-Mail darthrev@gmail.com.
So i checked my email and then it says that ive get a Gift but when i wanted to activate it this happens...

Translated it means:
Your friend who sent this gift to you, has withdrawn it and sent you a new code. If you get the new version, you will receive another e-mail with the current code.
So the problem is where is the other code.
