France are a young team. That could be their weakness. They also have a way of playing really badly every few games.

Their team is young, but England's team is equally young and Belgium's is also below the tournament's average age. So I don't really see how that could be a disadvantage, if it more or less applies to all of them.

I agree with you, we should not look into the World Cup as "paying the bills", getting any kind of revenge of any sort, etc. I am quite sick and tired of this kind of thinking, which is so quickly developing in Europe and the world... but at this time I am really proud to be Croat (again), after all the bad news about economy, young people emigrating and the future being painted extremely gloomy by the media

As others have stated, its been a great world cup for the Europeans and football in general, only thing disappointing is the south american teams haven't graced us with what I expected. Otherwise, its been the best tournament for years. :-)

Oh yes, both Argentina and Brasil very somewhat disappointing and many of us still can't believe our eyes when we see who actually went home so early in the World Cup... and Germans too.... but Russia brought a lot of fresh things into the World Cup, I hope that big sport events follow this somewhat crazy pattern :)

I would have liked to see Russia win its first World Cup the first time they also hosted the tournament.. mostly to see what the Internet would have gave birth after that.. you know, Putin, meme about Russia and such.. oh well, a golden opportunity wasted =P

I remember watching Davor Šuker in 1998 and Croatia's incredible run there (I had to look up his first name). Congratulations to Croatia-- after Russia got the equaliser, I thought that Croatia would lose because of an injured keeper. He is a national hero!

The goal keeper is a great guy, but I would rather that we don't rely so much on Subasic and the Lady Luck- they served us well twice, but it would be nice to get a straight win, without penalties :)
Šuker was a great player, but he is not a very popular president of the national football association - he's now being accused of quite a few bad things....
