It is not a steam key. You can tell when you see: "Capsule Client : This title requires Capsule to play." This means it uses the GMG DRM tool.

I agree with you that it's weird, but most of us like to keep all our games in one easy to find place. Which is why we want steam games.

i personally prefer that all my games are in one place, and that i can access my community natively with the overlay

When you start adding overlays to non steam games, i find it gets a bit buggy
