MP3 Player Recommendations: Ultra Rugged - Shuffle like - Audio Book

Hi all,

I am looking for a mp3 player, and have never had one. I need one for use while working, so it will need to be able to taking a beating. Really, there is no overkill here. It if could be designed to take drops, and both blunt and pointy force trauma, as well as being water resistant, and having inset buttons (or other method) so they are not accidentally pressed. So, I am thinking definitely no screen, and small enough to clip on a shirt collar to at least keep it in a relatively safe location.

I do not care about storage size, or battery life to any great amount, but it will be used almost exclusively to listen to audio books. The Shuffle has a pretty good feature list(https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201649) for this: bookmarks, fastforward, chapters. But 1. I am rather anti-apple and 2. I am not sure how walled garden it is. I definitely want something I an upload audio files from anywhere too.

But I am definitely open to divergent suggestions, are their like cases you can put on a nexus 5 that would allow you to hit it with a hammer and it would still survive? What I mean specifically, are their cases that are completely rigid and cover the screen?
