I just played this game last year on Emulation of PS3. Idk if I wanna get back to it to complete it on Steam.

Following this logic, GTA6 (Americas) is also already on PC.

I was under the impression that they said they lost the source code to RDR1, which is why it never got ported.

My understanding is that it isn't lost -- it's just super messy and hard to work with.

That was the story but then they managed to release Nintendo Switch port last year so this Steam version was incoming

Switch and PS4, they skipped Xbox since it was already available there through backwards compatibility.

My understanding is that it was infected by Groinlings - a parasitic fully digital trickster lifeform, which makes it difficult and indeed dangerous to work on the source code, unless you wish to be snatched to the wretched Glitch Dimension.

Well I do hear they have some tasty cookies over in the Glitch Dimension, so it's frankly a bit of a toss up.

Lol, how does an entire company lose source code without a backup. Its a common corporate lie...wait until they magically find it when its time to cash in.

From what I heard the most common culprit for missing source code is losing the physical media the backups are on while moving office. Usually they don't lose all backups but rather part of it and completing the missing parts from older versions can be tricky since documentation on game development tends to be a mess unlike other types of software development, and after years programmers won't remember how the heck they did things originally.
Sometimes companies have to opt for hiring someone to reverse engineer parts of a game just so they can remaster it, or reconstructing those parts from scratch.

It apparently happened to Icewind Dale 2, which is why it didn't get the EE treatment like all the other Infinity Engine games. And I was just saying what I had read. Wouldn't be the first time we've been lied to.

I think this leaked earlier in the year but hopefully it releases soon.

I wonder if there is a graphical update onto it for PC. If there isn't i don't see much point, as opposed to playing it alternatively.

Whoop whoop! Finally, I don't have to wait on emulators getting good enough to run it anymore. :)
