I'm not gonna post my rant about them here because A. Wall of Text and B. I forgot to save it so I'd have to rewrite it >.<
But basically, it's about people buying games just for cards and how they are missing out on classics like Castle Crashers or System Shock 2 by buying them, getting the cards, then never touching them again. It's heartbreaking to see this happening.

Ah so Valve FORCES people not to ever play classics, I see, makes sense.

No, you're putting words in my mouth. I'm talking about the cards are why people buy game X, they get the cards, shove Game X away and never touch it again. I haven't seen any cases of the person playing the game to play it, and the cards be a little extra thing. That's what I've done, but I don't consider myself a case since I'm anti-card

So let's pretend everything you said is true and can be proven with facts: So you much rather have people not buy that "classic" at all?

Why? It ain't hurting anybody. And it's just games. Live and let live.

Aslong as they buy it, the devs are getting money. Why do you care if they play it or not? If the devs get paid for the their great game, I'm happy. Also, I love cards, it's free money. But I have yet to buy a game specifically to get the cards.

If those games didn't drop cards, those people wouldn't even buy/install the games in the first place, so it's the same.

wasnt that happening without cards too? most people that bough bad rats never touch it, people buy games because they are ridiciously cheap, not because of cards. its not even profitable for them when they sell cards for less than for what they bought the game

Why do you care so much about what other people do? How does it affect you that they don't play a game, and how do you even want to know that they actually just idle and don't try it out a bit before they decide they don't like it.

But surely if a person bought the game it is more likely that he/she will try it sometime in the future. Even if the portion of people that has the classics and never play them increases, so does the number of people exposed to the classics which may actually play them.

I can say for sure that I've bought games with cards because I plan to play them eventually. I idle them right now for the cards but they go in my backlog withe everything else to be played at some point in the future. I don't really see how people idling in games they bought makes things any worse. As others have mentioned, the people that do this specifically for cards weren't going to play those games anyway. There's no scarcity so somebody buying and not playing the game isn't depriving somebody else from the opportunity of buying the game and playing it.
