Never cheap out on the PSU, if not that sorry you got a dud.

After 2 days I finally have it resurrected but with a 350W, motherboard cable wasn't long enough so it's currently suspended within the case from the motherboard, had to buy an adapter to plug in the gfx card as this PSU didn't have a PCIe connection... saving for a new PSU to replace the 700W one that blew.

700 Watt? What were you running? Seems like overkill. Most people in reality need 450-550 or less I would say unless they are running SLI/lots of stuff. Better off with one of lesser power but a better build.

What brand was it out of curiosity.
