Last movie I watched (well, fell asleep to) was Edge of Tomorrow on Netflix. Last movie I watched at the cinema was Asteroid City.

Give it another chance, Edge of Tomorrow is quite fun. Reminds me that when I rewatched it with my dad he got mad after the third reset or so (how often are they gonna do that?) but in the end he liked it a lot. How did you like Asteroid City? Welcome to my WL.

I'm not really into Comedy movies, but I do like Wes's eclectic style. I enjoyed Asteroid City, but I don't think it's his best.
My favourites are The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and The Fantastic Mr Fox. I still haven't seen Isle of Dogs yet.

I will give Edge of Tomorrow another try, I was enjoying it, just couldn't stay awake after a long cycle.

Isle of Dogs is good, but far from his best. It's a bit too static for my taste. If I wanna go for a stop motion Wes Anderson I'll watch Fantastic Mr. Fox again.

I almost don't watch movies at all, but I recently found out that my wife hadn't seen the LEGO movie, so for our entire relationship she didn't get my "Honey, where are my pants?" references. So we watched it last weekend.

Oh its the dude from the Movies thread!
The last watched movie would be To Leslie (2022)
It was really nice heartfelt movie. The actress did an amazing job portraying the mental chaos of this character. It gets really wholesome at the end. So definitely recommended.

Yes, that's me. Oh yeah, To Leslie (2022) was very good. For some reason people were angry that Andrea Riseborough got a Best Actress nomination for it, but watching the movie I could definitely understand why. She was great in it. Welcome to my WL.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't think it was about Riseborough getting a nomination so much as it was about the process of campaigning for it that got some people ticked off. If you ask me, I don't see why big studios should be the only ones who can campaign FYC. It was a small budget movie. People connected to the movie organized small screenings at their homes with academy members and the word of mouth helped her get nominated. What's the difference between that and big studios spending millions on massive screenings, sending dvds to people (I think now it's mostly streaming with access codes) and FYC ads in the industry press... I don't know.

There were other actresses who definitely got snubbed but it wasn't because she got nominated and she definitely deserved the nomination

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, it think that was a legit way of marketing. They didn't force people to nominate her, they told friends and colleagues about the movie and if they enjoyed it they should share the word. That's a better way of marketing something than spending millions. It lead to a nomination, which is definitely understandable if you've seen the movie. And maybe less so if you haven't.

I don't watch many movies anymore, but the last I can remember was Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Was quite bummed by the state of Marvel recently, but this one is good.

I can't recommend it and i avoid to watch the 4th movie since over 1 month (it is the last one).
