I red the F.A.Q. but could not see the answer. I know Private Giveaways dont count on CV level but if i create a group giveaway raise my CV level?

Yes , you don't get CV only when you giveaway just bundled games/dlcs or when you do a giveaway and there is only 1 person to take part of the giveaway

private giveaways count towards cv as well as group and public ones. Just make sure the game is not marked as bundled, and that the giveaway ends with more entries than copies being given away

are you sure about that? lets say i made a private non bundle game private giveaway, and just give the link to my friend. How is that a fair giveaway? I'm sure private giveaways dont count for Contributor.

Yes I'm sure. If there are more entries than copies of the game being given away you will get cv, so if you just give the link to 1 person you wont get any, but if more people enter you will

There needs to be at least two entries, yes. But you have to actually give away the game to your friend, because if the site realizes that they won the game and haven't activated it they get suspended for a bit.

why would anyone has to activate a game that he won? for example sometimes i win a game and i create a giveaway to raise my cv with it... sometimes i win a game in another giveaway page and create a giveaway here... is that forbidden?

Yes.

So, I understand why I thought that your idea with your friend's gift was selfish despite your high CV (to me). You just don't know the Steam Gifts rules.

From the FAQ post -
You must redeem the game on the account you entered with, and may not trade it to others.

i dont trade and giving it away is not trading. @maskagass i dont understand what you mean but i paid money for the giveaways, some bought on steam some bunle. i wonder how things work here...

When you give away a game to a friend, it's a trade too here...

What I mean is that I thought that $100 CV meant that the contributor knew the rules. I was wrong.

"You must redeem the game on the account you entered with, and may not trade it to others." If you create a giveaway to give a game you won here, this is a regift. Forbidden too.

well - so then you sometimes get banhammered for breaking the site's rules.

The CV system does not really make sense. Once you break past +$30.00 your CV value is determined with the same logic as a drunk hippopotamus.

It makes perfect sense. You dont get full CV for games you got off a bundle. I dont understand why people find this system so difficult

It's the fact that it appears you cannot get past $30.00 CV with bundled games. I did not breach $30.00 CV till I gave away a non-bundled game, but the CV I got from it suggested I should have breached +$30.00 with bundled games alone.

Hence why the system appears illogical.

well i wonder about group/and private giveaways. do they raise CV if there are more than 1 entries? if so what would stop people to make giveaways with 2 friends?

Nothing, although it becomes pretty easy to spot that happening if they do it more than once.

And yes, you do get normal CV for private and group giveaways.

so what rule is it againist creating a giveaway private, giving the link to 2 of your friends?

Nothing, thats perfectly ok according to the rules IF you actually give away the game... Also remember to activate your won games ;)

so lets say we are 3 gamers at home. one of us want to buy a game at steam, so he buys it as gift, and create a private giveaway, so only 2 of us can join and no matter who wins. and unless we synchronize here and we use private steam profiles, who can say we dont activate the game? im saying private and closed group giveaways should not be added to CV. or it can be abused.

The people using the site... Just like I could tell from your profile which games you have or have not activated. Just don't try to cheat the system - someone will find out eventually

there is an actual policy against it - if you're reporting an user you can see a "CV fraud" as one of the reasons for a report.

Also as mentioned - continuously doing so is very visible at your profile and will get you banned from any SG groups and into most of the contributors BlackLists very fast. And considering that SGv2 will have BlackListing enabled for Public GAs as well... Well it's your choice anyway ;)

Clearly, you've never tried to seduce a drunken hippopotamus. There's just no reasoning with them.

or lets say we are 3 gamers at home, 2 of us wants to buy a specific game. so we buy it as gift, and give to the 3rd friend to make a private giveaway. He makes a giveaway for 2 copies, and only 2 of us joins, we both win and activate the game we bought at the first place. and the friend get huge CV. Here is another conspiracy theory :) And how is that illegal here?

that won't give you cv since its a giveaway with only two entries and two copies.
