Maybe, because you tried to trade it away?
E-mail from WGN!? Please Note: This game is for personal use only and should not be used for trading, selling or public giveaways.
Your thread, where you listed 2 copies of Into the War for trading purposes: http://www.steamgifts.com/trade/jmK6f/h-bunch-of-bundle-games-w-another-bundle-games-i-dont-have-or-fall-weiss
You probably have the Scumbag Steve badge now, and will be excluded from future WGN giveaways.

That doesn't make you 'cooler' looking.
I'm not sure why I would even need a giveaway from you. I even have more games than you. --"
But your call, I also can't be arsed to argue about that blacklist, anyway, as upon checking the games you gave.... insignificant.

I'm a little confused about the "public giveaways" portion. Does posting the extra 2 keys on the forums count as a "public giveaway"?

Correct me if I'm wrong. It's just my impression.
Not sure how that Into the War promotion came to be, but it seems that "Scumbag Steve" thread is general to WGN, not just to that giveaway. Why do they want to control what people do with the keys they got there when they have all that " buying greenlight votes with keys" stuff? Isn't that even more scumbaggy?

Sometimes, yes, maybe in the case of this Into the War promotion (I don't know how it happened). But they even gave 3 keys. Even if you redeem one yourself, you'll still have 2 spare keys, that you could trade for another game you want to play, with somebody that will play the game you're offering. But regardless, I respect their rules regarding giving keys away for free. That's not the issue I'm bringing up here. As seen in this link:
What is a Scumbag Steve
Someone who sold/gave away keys from WGN on other website's.
It seems to be a general rule for WGN, not just for actual giveaways.
So, talking especifically about the "trading keys for greenlight votes" promotions, if you receiving the key is conditioned for you voting for the game and putting it in the market, it's not really a giveaway. It's a trade. Steam itself has spoken up about it as an unhealthy practice. So, how can they judge people (calling them Scumbag Steve and revoking their keys) who do whatever they want with the keys they got by keeping their end of the bargain (voting), when they do a scumbaggy move themselves (trading keys for votes)?
To their defense, that topic is new (made on the 23rd), so, maybe contrary to what it seems, it'll only be enforced for actual giveaways.

The Scumbag Steve thing has been enforced since the beginning of times.

you asked me to see your reply above but my comment seems more like a reply to your reply. because like i said, they're not trading keys for votes. anyway all i can tell you is not voting for the games you're not 100% sure that you'd like. i regretted passing some of the promos because some games i didn't vote for turn out to be okay but at least i never felt forced to redeem the keys i got. because i wanted to have the games i voted on greenlight. which you should do too. if you're feeling forced, then there is something wrong. with that logic one can complain about sg too. you know, sg is forcing to redeem our wins and stuff... as a side note i'm glad wgn is not letting scumbag steve meme die. it's a funny meme, yet not so much around these days.
edit: oops, posted under wrong comment. well, whatever...

don't mind me. i don't want to carry this on. just wanted to point out you still need to activate the keys on your own account to give them a try.

Indeed its not a black and white issue.
However try to see this from our and moreso from the view of devs partnered with our community and Im sure you will understand why this indeed strict policy is necessary and why we cant change it, as without these rules the amount of abuse would be sky high.
We can argue all day as to whether or not you agree with the policy but its the way it is. WhosGamingNow is technically speaking a private site with its personal rules, what Valve says is not necessarily a concern since
1.The greenlight promos got pretty much concluded at this point

I understand it. I guess I'm just saying my personal opinion about that which is not the subject of this topic.
Anyway, I know I can just not participate if I don't agree with the rules. And I don't, although I was part of the WGN?! group on Steam, and I still got some emails after it was closed, I kinda lost track of what was happening with it after a while, though.
My "complaint" is more about the ethics in the practices than the rules themselves (Steam's or otherwise). But no matter.
When you say the greenlight promos got pretty much concluded at this point, what do you mean? There'll be no more "vote for key" promos?
Comment has been collapsed.
If keys are being revoked thats by the dev not WGN, in most cases WGN are just distributing the keys to the voters.

the idea behind wgn is voting for the games you would like to have, helping the devs to be greenlit and getting the game for your help. now one can say it's against what greenlight system stands for. that's a topic for another discussion. the point is wgn doesn't sell you game keys in exchange of your votes. if you want to trade/sell them, simply don't use wgn, buy game from the store when/if it'll be greenlit and trade/sell it.

Ok, I understand. See my reply above. Yeah, to me, this whole thing is shady. But my actual concern is that they're quick to judge people when they do something "bad" themselves.
EDIT: And, I've voted for games who promised keys to the voters, but I've only did that because I actually liked the game and thought they deserved the vote. But I wouldn't like to be forced to redeem the key for myself if I didn't want to do so. I understand, though, this can be WGN's rules, but it's kinda scumbaggy, if you ask me. :P

Erm actually we can backtrace all promo keys
And fyi: you can do keydrops or give it away to friends AS LONG as you are not making a profit from it (which means no giveaway or trading)
Think what you will but all scumbag steve users got the badge for a reason so there is hardly such thing as a mistakenly banned person (knocks on wood)
You could say that the policy we use is harsh but is it done in a way to make sure these keys are not being misused.

OP, if you'd have just dropped your keys like this: QK5BM-IP4P[]-B+6RA []=How many sirens can exist at once in the world of Borderlands? +=Lord Gaben can't count to...
//VLG-LK8LN-TF6N6 //=The number of the devil -600
Oh I really dropped them, didn't I?

Everyone received 3 keys, right? I know I did. Activated one and kept the other two, just now tried to activate on my mule and it said duplicated.
