F:NV has better mod support, but in my opinion they are equally awesome.

Simple quesetion. Take NV if it include the all DLC. If it is not - take F3:GOTY

Both games will fit the bill. Personally I liked fallout 3 more than new vegas. Mostly due to the atmosphere and the radio choices (I'm not a big fan of deserts). ;p or you could try and save up and get fallout 4 in november (that's my plan)

i don't have a powerful computer to run Fallout 4. I have a Intel 4400 HD card with a Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4160 CPU @ 3.60 GHz (4 CPUS), ~3.6GHz with 8GB of RAM. Plus, this will be my first Fallout game if i buy it, so i wouldn't really know what happened before Fallout 4.

the fallout games are not intertwined. 1-2-tactics(brotherhood of steel) were mostly played turn based combat 45 % angle view. Fallout 4 will be more like 3 as in on the East coast New Vegas was fun too since it was more west coast. They should have made a Mid West Fallout as 4 instead of another East Coast

I actually wonder if that might be part of my bias towards fallout 3 vs New Vegas. I grew up on the east coast living in several different bits of it (mostly Massachusetts). So maybe I can relate better with fallout 3. I will say this though, Caravan in new Vegas is one of my favorite things and I hope fallout 4 has something similar.

idk man, I remember being super stoked for NV because I lived in mojave (and I live in Vegas now). I think F3 has a more pleasant/interesting atmosphere too :)

Trust me - both games works fine on 7 year old computer, with 2-core Athlon 64 2.4GHz, 3Gb RAM and Radeon 4670 512Mb.

What would be the maximum frames for Fallout 4 on my PC?
Comment has been collapsed.
HD 4400? 0.5 FPS :v
xD but srsly, i have no idea, off course having an integrated ghraphics card dosent help, altough the HD4400 is one of the "good" integrated ones, just gotta wait for the requirements, you might be able to play it without problems....
and you should be able to play either of these 2 Fallouts on that PC.

hey man, some people can play GTA V with that card, granted dosent look the breast, but it runs :D so you might be allright for FO4

Pete Hines said on Twitter that PC specs come out a month before the game does, or in about 2 weeks. Your computer will be fine with 3 and New Vegas without a doubt.
Intel graphics would have trouble with any new game. If you could get Fallout 4 to run on the lowest settings possible, I'd be surprised if you break 10 FPS, 15 if you're lucky. My old laptop had an HD 3000 card and couldn't hit 20 with Skyrim. That being said, wait until the Fallout 4 specs are released and compare benchmarks for the minimum Nvidia/AMD cards with the HD 4400 and go from there.

New Vegas has much better writing/plot/characters than FO3 and marginal improvements to gameplay.
But if you're just looking for a sandbox to mod the hell out of, it doesn't really matter.

If you only have $10, wait for them to go on sale and buy both.
Sadly, your question on compatibility hasn't been answered yet. I remember FO3 can have problems with Windows 7, but not sure about with 8.1 or 10. I'd be curious to know.

Yes, they both have totally open world with other smaller worlds in DLC.
But NV have more storeline endings.)
They both great! and both must have.

Wait for them to go on sale and get both? I think they've been as low as 4.99 for the GOTY editions (maybe lower on somewhere other than Steam)
I preferred the atmosphere and story line of Fallout 3. If you care about achievements ... I think Vegas is the only one which has them.

^This I picked up FNV Ultimate and FO3 of ~10 just wait for sales (I think the next big thing is in November but there may be one in October.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a sale on both fallout games when the new one comes out. (in november)

New Vegas is what Fallout 3 should have been, in my opinion.

If you haven't played Fallout 3, you should definitely play it first.
$10 isn't even enough to get either of the games GOTY editions right now.
Both have been under $5 before so...
F3 is better story-wise imo too.
Good luck.

Vegas has far better writing and quest design, and the gun play is better, and it has more mods than 3 available.
onde day i will make Chris Avellone mine..

Did you play the originals? FNV was made by Obsidian, which is made up of many of the original developers and writers behind Fallout and Fallout 2 and what would have been the original Fallout 3 had Interplay not folded and disbanded Black Isle. Also see my post at the top of page 2.

yep, but only fallout 2, it was like my first serious game i ever played. In my life i beat like 3 games in total, as i tend to lose interest rather quickly. But i did play thru fallout 2 twice, and together with final fantasy VII its probably one of my most played games ever :) 3rd game i completed was umm... super mario bros 3 ? one where you get to skip 4 worlds with a flute. or something along those lines. Dam that thing was brutal, or maybe i was just bad... not sure anymore really :P
also, im talking about general atmosphere of the game. And while it might look bland a bit (and it is) i couldnt really find any wow moment in new vegas, that compares to looking at the wasteland for the first time. I think i took like 400 screenies til i got to that big bridge, and im one of those people who takes screenshots once in a blue moon :)

i honestly prefer new vegas bcs i only played like 15 minutes, but if its GOTY fallout 3 you gotta get it

Go buy a steam game off of ebay. Its cheaper. I got Fallout New Vegas for 4.90. But you need a paypal. But pick Fallout 3 GOTY. Its got DLC

So i have $10 dollars in my pocket (because i'm a teenager :/) and i was wondering which one should i get. I am looking for open world explorations with a lot of mod support and will work on Windows 8.1. I don't care about the story. I want random events and alot of hours. Did i mention fun mods?
