It saddens us to say that by June 28th, 2019, we will be closing the service of Warlords Awakening. Warlords Awakening will remove all in-game purchasing moving forward as the game is set to go to a Free2Play model on May 31st.

quite a few problems with your logic
a) it is not one freebie, but unknown amount of games in the future as well
b) a lot of games that were given there were never given anywhere else (so far)
c) they were giving out even AAA games in the past this way - for example Dead by Daylight for level 20+ members
d) I wouldn't consider 2 min a day to be a "lot of work" - it has a nice community so I use it instead of reddit, the news instead of eurogamer and the daily quests often require about 3 clicks (change badge, border, click on the link ...)
e) you can level even by simply visiting the website - it is slower but you get 55 points in 10 consecutive days that way

Confused it with Shadows: Awakening for a moment, which would have been epic.
edit: it claims that keys expire May 10th. Not sure whether to believe it or not. I suppose unused keys could be revoked at that point.
edit 2: game is apparently going F2P soon (source)
