The most important thing is: did you use the same password for other stuff? Then go to that other stuff and change it ASAP. At the end of the day, unless you have top secret emails in your account, it's no biggie. Use a better password too if you were using something short and simple.

Start doing a scan for viruses, trojans, key loggers and all that.

Just a piece of advise coming from my personal experience:
1) None of the antivirus programs (even Kaspersky or ESET) can identify and kill all trojans.
2) You will need to search (read forums) and download a couple of anti-malware programs to remove every malicious thing on your pc. I had to download 7 or 8 free anti-malware, run them all and then at the last one the trojan was removed. Sorry but i can't remember its name.
It took me totally 1 week searching, trying programs and checking the results. What i had? Adware, which was showing only "lose weight" ads on the browsers and smileys every time i was right clicking anywhere. So, you may think AVG or even Kaspersky can find everything but the truth is they can't.

Were they just attempts or did someone really access it? I've had some people try accessing my account, but they always had the wrong password. Anyway, do what the others have said and you should be fine. Good password has at least 16 characters (8 is too short nowadays) and consists of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters.

Having actual words in the password is something you shouldn't do. They're easy to crack with dictionary attacks and rainbow tables.

Once I red on a site that suggested a clever way to remember passwords, create an alphanumeric one and add the name of the site at the end of it, this way you should get a different password each time and it will be easy to remember, but I dunno if it works. Example: k39skh58Steamgifts

Yes, but it's safer to assume that site/service is not secure and choose a strong password without any actual words. As an user you have no idea how securely the passwords are protected.

Uhm I checked my account and I have many session from united states and germany via POP3, I guess it's gmail syncing through pop3 so my mails are all on the gmail account. I've activated the 2step verification on outlook (which I already had but looks like the system has changed) and I already have it on gmail, so there should be no problems at all! :D Good thing my email password is unique, if I don't get verification request I don't even need to change the pass 'cause it was just paranoia :3

about that 2 step authentication, I cant receive an sms on the same number I already have for alerts, so to activate that authentication i need to have 2 cellphones? -.-
