That's just a way of tracking games, whether you own them or not. It doesn't give you ownership of a game and doesn't allow you to download them in the future.

There are also plenty of itch.io games given away from time to time on some marvelous site, that you can keep, but can't post due rules (lots of group joining). Right now there is Flat and Luna.

Yep, I got those, too. I like the way that MarvelousGA, Simplo, and Prys maintain a list of all their current giveaways, so you can just go and get the ones you want without having to search around to find them. Way better than Gleam, which needed the external GleamDB as a real search.

Apart from the games you can claim (which this thread mainly focus on), you need to download them before the sale ends or they will be gone, the ones you can claim will stay in your library forever. And no in general they don't provide steam keys, these are drm free downloads. Keep checking this Itch.io sales link, because new games keep added every week.
