Glad I have this one. I'm not the type to want a ton of discontinued games in my library, but I really enjoy visual novels, and I would have been sad to miss out on this one. Too bad the extra IG key I have is useless now... Not because I wanted some kind of profit off it, but because that could have been one more person who would have the game. =/

That's pretty lame that keys are dead too. They can do what they want though, since I don't really own anything I pay for that is related to Steam. Just borrowing or "leasing" it. It would have been nice if they left the keys people paid for though, since they would be of value down the road... and well... some of that money went to the makers when we bought them...
Just lends more fuel and credibility to my realization that in general, humans are stupid /facepalm yeah, that includes me
Thanks for the info though, at any rate. Sad to see the game go, and sad to see the keys crumble to alphanumerical dust.

Well, I can throw away those extra keys then! I love it when that happens.
Are they also deleting the game from people's libraries? I checked someone who I know had the game before but it doesn't show up any longer...

I emailed IndieGala support about this issue (along with something else). This was their response:
"We contacted the developer and we are waiting for his answer, as soon as he get back to us we’ll let you know."

Words from developers here: http://tieba.baidu.com/p/4540865834
Translated:
Because the developer company didn't receive the payment from publisher in the past one year, and all developers are kicked from Steamworks group, so the developers are not able to update the game and have to cancel the support. So the developer company created a DCMA ticket to Steam and the game is removed.
Now the developer company is contacting Valve to get the distribution rights back and make the game back to Steam. The developer company will stop the cooperation with former publisher.

For the keys that were rendered unusable, I opened a Paypal dispute with Indie Gala, requesting a refund proportionate to the number of keys out of the total. I was pleased to see they refunded the requested amount with no questions asked.
Thank you JustArchi, IgotElbows and dkny for bringing my attention to it!

Apparently so. Hard to say right now, but that's the impression I got.

SHAN GUI IS BACK \o/
Old revoked keys should be working once again! :3
(Text below is no longer up-to-date, as keys got reactivated. I kept it for archival purposes only)
If you have any keys, e.g. from Tokyo Anime, you can try to redeem them to find out they're all invalid. So I suggest to avoid making giveaways, if you planned to (best to remove invalid keys or put them on special list).
