Hi all,
Gonna visit there for the first time this month and traveling with kids. I really only have 3 major questions

1) We're arriving 1AM as those were cheap plane tickets. Are we stranded at the airport? I searched and it doesn't look like the trains are running until 6AM although I heard taxis aren't that expensive.
2) Our hotel check in is also 2PM. Huge gap from 1AM. Any tips on where to waste time or rest near the airport?
3) Are there vendos there that sell sim cards at the airport? Was going to prepay 4G wifi for pickup but the counters open at 6-7AM.

Also, would appreciate any additional tips you can share if you've stayed there or live there.

Here's for the people who came for the GAs :)

Thanks! We are staying in a Disney Hotel but they don't really have a very early check-in. They said we can leave our bags and explore the area though while waiting.

Well, it's not a carbon copy of HK but as far as video games are concerned, it's a pretty nice simulation of the city and its immediate surroundings. Took me a while just to adjust to the left-hand traffic.

It might be cheaper for you to take a taxi instead of paying for 4+ Airport Express passes to HK. 1 adult = 100 HKD / 1 child = 50 HKD, 1-way prices. Grabbing a cab at this time in a queue would be easier too since it's not during rush hour. Make sure they use the meter and don't be taken for a ride by agreeing to a quote on an inflated price. If they do, just grab the next one in queue.

Never really arrived that late in HK before. Might be better to check if there's any half-day lodging at the ariport, which would make it convenient for your kids. Depending on your airline, it might be worth purchasing a lounge pass where you can shower, relax, charge your devices, and have some snacks/refreshments.

Take a trip to the infamous night market in Mongkok around 5 pm to purchase triple-A quality knockoffs of luxury good watches for him, purses/shoes for her, and toys for kids. It also has food vendors where you can try out some street food. There's also Temple Street night market in Jordan as well, which buzzes later.

Protip, don't drink boiled tap water from your hotel if you decide to cook something small. There should be a 7-11 or Circle-K nearby where you can buy bottled water. It's not worth getting over a throat infection for a week while taking an assortment of antibiotics.

Have fun!

Thanks for confirming about the cab. I checked the airport lounges and they are way expensive but at least it's something to consider. Appreciate all the additional tips too - blue hearted.

EGEST (whatever it's called) is a funny thing sometimes. Always seems the comments are go back and forth with time ascending and descending. Or, I'm just inept.

Thanks for the tips!

Saw this in #1 URL. Kinda funny as it relates to #4 somehow.

It is not an offence if a taxi driver cannot give change to HK$500 or HK$1,000 notes.

It seems there are airport taxis everywhere that don't use the meter if you're not careful. Thought this only happened in our country lol.

Yikes. I thought it would be easy given we're at the airport and around 1AM. Will consider though. Thanks!
