It usually says if you will get an extra copy of something on the checkout page. Unless they got rid of that at some point.
Edit: Just had a look and got this.
POSTAL 2 + Paradise Lost: According to our records, you already own one or more of the items included in this package on Steam.
If purchasing for yourself, you will not receive an extra copy of: POSTAL 2

Yeah I see that when purchasing for myself, however, my cunning plan is to purchase as a gift ;)
And when I do that I don't see this message... But if it comes as a single gift and not 2 separate ones, obviously I won't be able to redeem the DLC and gift the main game.

Thanks, well I'll wait for the DLC to end up in a bundle again then ^^
I'm so late in my play queue that it can wait 👀

This is very kind of you. I started playing Postal a bit last night, because I thought it might have been a bit more connected than it seems to be, but I decided to skip it for now because of the, for me, weird interface and controls.
Postal 2 seem like a pretty decent game from the time I've spent with it this far. For some reason I'm getting a bit of motion sickness playing even though the default FOV are close to what I'm used to. I'll have to do a bit of research in to this but maybe just increasing the FOV will alleviate most of it.
My intent is to try to "complete" the game as far as achievements go but as I don't usually play games in this manner, and I would guesstimate that I'm a well below average skilled FPS, I can't say for sure how reasonable it is that I will actually succeed. This will undoubtedly take a bit of time since my usual strategy to make up for lacking skill is time and dedication :P
Thank you again.

Incredibly few older type Steam packages give you gift copies for already owned products. The only ones I know are the ones that have Portal 1/2 and Half-Life 2 in them. Most other games offer 2-packs or 4-packs as separate options and even more just converted to the Steam bundle format.

Not sure if it'd work with this bundle, but Madjoki wrote a very nice script that adds gift copies of the games you already own from some bundles to your inventory --
You can get it here for Chrome and maybe someone else could link his thread (I can't find it at the moment) for the Firefox version.

From the look of it, isn't it rather a script to re-enable the "add to cart" button on bundles that you can't buy when you already own one of the games in them?
Although not what I was looking for here, that's still pretty interesting stuff, thanks 😎

Note that for those (bundles with separate gifts), another working method is to log out, add the bundle to your cart, and then log back in when completing the purchase ;)

Thank you for your nice SGTools protected giveaway DingDong! :3
For this kind of situation I use as a rule of thumb what is shown in my Steam cart at checkout. If it says that you own a game and don't get a gift copy then it's quit clear. Steam doesn't like that you get a cheap gift copy. ;-)

You're welcome :)
About those bundles, indeed Steam shows a warning when you purchase for yourself, but when you purchase a gift it doesn't say if the items will come together or separately.
I bought a bundle in the past where Steam showed me a warning about not getting all contents if buying for myself: I did get all items as separate gifts when buying as a gift ;)

I didn't know that because whenever I got that warning I never got any seperate gifts, that was a very nice surprise for you then. ;-)

Are you bumping for the GA or for the question? 🙃
If it's for the question, sadly Girlbeard provided the anwser: it's a single gift containing both the base game and the DLC, so you can't keep one and gift the other :(

Thanks a lot, but Tzaar already just gave me a copy ;)

If you wanted to do a good deed for Spiff :3

You won't. I have just tried to add it to cart. It just says I won't receive additional copy for base game because I own it.

It's currently on sale on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/69654/
My question is, I already have Postal 2, so if I buy the bundle as a gift, will I be able to use the DLC for myself and separately gift Postal 2 to someone else, or do they come as a single item? (in my cart, it does look like a single item)
Also, here is the GA tax ^^ http://www.sgtools.info/giveaways/29cd3a79-203b-11e7-9500-fa163ee2f826
