Sources say it even comes in a flimsy plastic "DVD-ROM style" slipcase, just like old times! Non-optional, completely mandatory physical box included in the Steam purchase, with non-free worldwide shipping. Will fit nicely on the shelf between your "Speed 2" and "Clueless" DVDs. Don't believe me? Here's some undeniable photographic evidence that you will not be able to deny (like I said earlier in the sentence). Contents of the box:

  • The essence of Dark Souls Remastered
  • No disc
  • A digital code printed in an annoyingly hard to read font, guaranteeing you confuse the "0" and "O"
  • No instructions on how to redeem said code (it is not a Steam code )
  • Some stale air and an icky plasticy smell

Sorry, I was bored :S

I hope they release the remastered version for free on steam for those who own the original version.

+1

it would be an awful and terrible choice for them to not go this route giving us a reward to all of us that we were loyal and bought it to support them etc.

Won't be free, but it will be discounted.

I seriously doubt. Smaller update for DS2 was paid too. You aren't getting this for free.

It won't be free, but will have a discount, hopefully has a big difference for graphics.

well, that sucks honestly. I think the performance and the port is more important than graphics. Running this game on default settings is a nightmare and you need to patch it manually.

It's been confirmed that it'll have a 50% discount for owners of the Steam version (it's $39.99 base price)

confirmed where?
https://www.vg247.com/2018/01/12/dark-souls-remastered-priced-40-owners-of-the-original-on-pc-could-get-a-discount/

Bandai Namco confirmed that there will be no discount on PC similar to the Scholar of the First Sin rollout. The price is $40 everywhere

Bandai is not the same as THQ Nordic (all remasters free for original game owners) or even Bethesda (Skyrim remaster) 😥

It said so on their store. Everything's just rumors now though, the Bandai Namco community manager on Steam said PCGamer's source was wrong

i saw this.
This "community manager" can't tell something usefull
here

It is still not confirmed for the public whether there will be a discount or not, so just stay tuned.

Anyway i will not buy it even with 50% discount (maybe with 75) Such "remasters" must be free ¯ \\ (ツ) / ¯

I don't really see the point, they could just fix the one on steam. I'd rather see a remaster of my favorite game on GameCube: Chibi-Robo ! (how original !)

I hope there's new content as well because I'm not paying for the game a second time just to get 60 FPS I can already get from DSFix (I don't care about 1080p or extra summons at all, if anything the second point will make PVP worse since it's gonna be gankfests everywhere).

Dsfix don't work perfectly either, so a proper PC port would be great.

Dark Souls is one of my favorite games ever.
Very excited about this.

Also "PC gets a 50% loyalty discount." for people who own the original. So It'll only be 20$ instead of 40$ Which is super neat.

I still have to play through Bloodborne and Nioh, I'll pass.

I want to get excited about this but it sounds like all they are doing is adding 60 fps support, allowing higher resolutions and working multiplayer. That's all stuff that should have been in the original PC release, not stuff that they should be charging extra for years later. Even 20 bucks is a bit steep if that is all that's new in this release imho.

Dark Souls was fantastic, but having just finished Dark Souls 2 last weekend (finally!), I don't think I'll be picking up this remaster for a long time. I need a little DS break before picking up the third game maybe in a future sale (summer, autumn, winter, depending on how patient I can be).

I can't put my finger on why exactly, but I enjoyed DS and DS2 more than I enjoyed Bloodborne.

Strange. Isn't that what Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 already are?

God I hate video game companies nowadays. They're like a silly Oprah.

YOU get a remaster! And YOU get a remaster! AND YOUUU get a remaster!
