It's the law of conservation of luck: luck can't be created or destroyed, so your negative luck is compensating for someone else's positive luck. Unfortunately, there is no way to know who your lucky counterpart is so you can bribe them with cake.

I'm glad it's not just me! My luck is at -1.33 right now :(. I have tons of games to catch up on though so it's no big deal. It may or may not be influenced by the fact that there is no such thing as a truly 'random' number generator, so while the draws are (I presume) as random as possible, it can't be 100% random. It's entirely possible that has an effect on luck.

There are, in fact, true random number generators. They're used much less often than pseudorandom number generators, though.
Assuming SG has not invested in some special hardware and we're using a run-of-the-mill, standard library PRNG, it will still have no measurable influence on anyone's individual luck (in a way deviating from the statistical expectations, I mean).

It's just comparing the number of games you've won to the expected number of wins. If one person wins more than they're expected to from just random chance, clearly some other person will win less than they are expected to.

I think it's just that people with bad luck are more vocal that those with good luck.
I have -46 luck in the last year and I bring it up every chance I get, as you can see :p (although usually I also include the graph ^^)

There have been talks about the luck per month stats and so far, I noticed that a lot of us get negative numbers like 0.30 or 0.04 or even lower. What is the deal?
