Are you excited?
I'm excited :V
But I think I will still stick with ETS2 for a while.
KEEP ON TRUCKIN'

If you don't want to wait, 18 Wheels Of Steel - American Long Haul is a good substitute. One of my friends waaaaay back in my high school years was all over that game, he just wouldn't shut the hell up about it. It's an oldie though, obviously.

It usually goes on for 75% off, but I think that was in the Daily Deals. Who knows what it'll do this year :/

Yeah. I've really been thinking I should at least play a truck driving sim before going bonkers over this one, lol. Maybe if ETS or ETS2 go on sale next week I'll consider buying them. I just have a bunch of backlog so I've been a little resistant to start up with any sort of open-world open ended games. But by February I should have fought back enough back log to waste a few hundred hours on ATS! ^_^

Semi excited,(Pun not intended) It'll be cool to drive American truck that I know, but I still don't get to drive in anyplace I'm familiar with.

I like your unintended pun. I wish I had thought of that sooner!
Yeah. They do say that this is essentially the bare minimum they feel comfortable releasing without keeping us waiting too much longer. They hope to have the whole US eventually. I too am much more familiar with the East Coast and Mid-West. My husband doesn't even drive out to CA anymore because of all the regulations that make it such a headache to drive there. (Plus it's winter time anyway and he stays away from the Rockies as much as her can in winter.)

Here is a vid that shows a legit legal way to get free games, and a link to the site it is about directly

Nice, I have been looking forward to it. ETS2 is like relaxation therapy for me. Turn on one of the radio stations and drive. I don't even bother with the management parts of the game, just drive routes and meditate. Occasionally honk the horn or ram cars off the road for the hell of it. :)

I'm not sure I understand. Yes, it's a new game. It's certainly going to be largely similar to ETS2 being that it's a truck driving simulator but it has different brands of trucks (American instead of European, duh) And yes, of course, different environments, being that it's set in the US. I have read that there are some newer features like police chases and I think some extra challenges dealing with greater trailer lengths. So does that make it brand new enough for you?

I meant if they just re-developed ETS2 into a new game by changing most of the content to fit into an American setting or if they created a (mostly) new game with a new engine, better graphics etc. ETS2 was pretty fun but to me it had too many technical limitations to keep me from being entertained for too long. For example weak AI drivers or complete lack of multiplayer (at least without mods)
Sounds like they did a bit of both. Take the existing game, change the setting and add new features.

RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED!
No, my caps lock isn't broken, I'm just excited. Are you guys excited? Why am I so excited when anyone can see I don't even own Euro Truck 1 or 2? Because I'm American! And my husband is a truck driver. Now I can pretend to what he does all week. And when he comes home he can pretend to keep doing the same thing he does all week but this time run over anybody that's a jerk to him. And possibly get into a police chase from what I hear.
Here's the closest thing to a related GA I have in my key library right now:
