Which game should I play this month?
RESERVED
FYI, I've already played The Witcher (the first one).

Voted for Bioshock but honestly if you have little time you should go for Soma instead.

I am quite torn! Such nice selection, I think you wouldn't get wrong with any game from that list! ;)
Well, I am currently playing Mass Effect again, so I must vote for my Shepard! :3
And right behind it is Dragon Age, Witcher, Bioshock.... <3

Bioshock for me as its a great game in an unusual setting.

I just finished SOMA very recently and it is an interesting trip but not for the faint-hearted (although there is Wuss mode). It tackles different philosophical games still while earning its name as horror game.
Personally, I wouldn't be to interested in the western RPG's you've listed. One reason being that they mean a major time commitment so I would start with something shorter.

I have only played Bioshock from the games listed and I didn't enjoy it that much. I just installed SOMA earlier today :)

just to clarify, on Origin the files for Alice: The Madness Returns includes all the files for American McGee's Alice. On Origin it's relatively easy to switch these files on.
The files are not on the steam version of the game. Any guide out there includes (illegally) downloading the files for American McGee's Alice and then modding Alice: The Madness Returns to use those assets.

I believe it was the "Complete" edition. However, (and this is where I could be wrong) the regular version on origin included the assets, just not a way to access it. As such, the Origin version can be modified quite simply, whereas Steam requires downloading the assets

Mad Max is well done, but still relatively standard open-world fare. It does get the setting right though.
Bioshock 1 hasn't aged well IMHO. The first one has really clunky controls, especially with not being able to wield a weapon and a plasmid at the same time. And the hacking minigame gets old quick. Story's still good, if you go for that I do hope you can go in spoiler-free.
(I prefer Bioshock 2 gameplay-wise, but the story in that one doesn't reach the same level. Minvera's Den DLC story is very good though)
Personally though, I'd recommend Talos Principle. Also see if you can find all the easter eggs in that one, some are absolutely hilarious.

Torn between Bioshock and ME. But I voted for Mass Effect.
But you should really have at least tried both of them. Both fantastic Trilogies.

I've heard it's buggy, plus it has lots of achievements I'll never get. I want to play the game for the story without worrying about achievements/completion. Left to my own devices, I'm a completionist.

Well it has achievements, they're just on GFWL (I guess it's called just 'Live' these days) if I remember correctly.
I don't know about the bugginess, only played the original versions of BS and BS2. They are definitely worth a shot though in my opinion. The atmosphere in the games is amazing, more so than with Infinite in my opinion.
Still gotta revisit BS2 one day for Minerva's Den, but you know... backlog...
But you made me change the 'unfinished' (because of aforementioned Minerva's Den) from BS2 Remastered to BS2 on BLAEO. :D

i would do talos principle,
then bioshock followed by bioshock 2 (maybe infinite last),
dragon age (skipping dragon age 2 which is trash) then dragon age inquisition,
mad max,
witcher 2 (if you didn't play witcher 1, you could play all 3 games in a row),
and mass effect last, if you can also add me2-3 and andromeda. ^^

Interesting pecking order. I think if I played nothing else, I still wouldn't be finished all of these games by the end of 2020.

I really hope that by "play" you mean "replay", because if you still haven't played yet Mas Effect and Dragon Age Origins you are missing out on a LOT.
P.S. just don't even think about playing Dragon Age II or Inquisition after Origins, it's a terrible idea. You can waste your precious time on something more interesting.

Another one of those weirdo's whose never played any Mass Effect or DA:O
Never really appealed to me in the first half of my gaming life; now that I'm older I can appreciate them a lot more.
Mass Effect has definitely been on "the list" for a while.

Yeah, when those games came out (2007-2009), that was sort of my gaming dark ages. I had canceled my WoW subscription just as Burning Crusade came out (early 2007) and didn't do a lot of gaming until I started a F2P WoW-clone called Runes of Magic, which I played until I came to Steam in 2012...and by that time I was married with kids, so...limited gaming. :(

If you never played Bioshock before, then it's your best option. A blind playthrough of Bioshock is one those "once in a lifetime" things every gamer should do.
Both Dragon Age and Mass Effect are good options, if you have already played Bioshock.

I played a demo version of it on a PS3 many years ago. I didn't get far. I remember the cool ambiance, but that's about it. It would essentially be a blind playthrough.

[Update: I've decided to play: Bioshock.
Not only did it have the most votes (and probably most comments), but it's not tremendously long, is an RPG (which I've had an itch for), and has a "twist" (?) which could get spoiled for me down the road. Plus, there's a chance I might split my time between Bioshock and SOMA, because the latter lends itself to playing alone at night, which will be my (rare) situation. I did the same thing with STASIS during another of her trips. But this post has definitely bumped up Mass Effect and Talos in my backlog.
I think I'm going to play the original version, not Remastered. That way I don't have to worry about achievements / completion and I've heard there are lots of bugs in Remastered. I still need to decide if I'm going to play it with a controller or KB+m. I'll be closing this thread tonight because I'm afraid of getting spoilers...apparently I already got one.]
Original message (and GA) follows:
I have a little bit of extra gaming time this month since the wife will be on travel for work for about 10 days, spanning most of two weekends. I can only play in the evenings due to kids (although I play other stuff with them).
I have never played any of the above games. I'd like to start one of them this month, even though in most cases above I won't finish it this month (which is fine). This is a good month to make some good progress on a longer game. I'd like your vote from among the above choices.
If you're curious, you can look at my itching to play list, which contains all of these games and more.
To be honest, I've probably eliminated a couple of these games from contention for one reason or another, but I still am interested in how many votes they get.
And a little GA for your trouble (Level 3). Thanks!
