I bought Monster Hunter yesterday. Every time I open this game, after a minute or so my pc discconects from my wifi and the internet only returns when I close Monster Hunter.
I tried several fixes: disabling the steam overlay and the Geforce Experience Overlay, and in Launch Options putting this: nofriendsui -udp

Nothing works in the end. I want to play this game with my friends and in an AAA game like this with so many sales, I expect at least to not have these problems, I never had this issue with a game.

Anyone got a solution? Because its getting on my nerves.

My specs:

  • GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3 Gb
  • CPU: Amd Ryzen 5 2600
  • RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 3000 C17 2x8GB
  • WIFI Adapter: Asus PCE-AC51 PCIe Dual Band AC750

  1. If using WiFi, switch to a wired Ethernet connection
A wired Ethernet connection is recommended when playing Monster Hunter: World online. If you are already connected via Ethernet, try connecting the Ethernet cord from your PC directly to the modem, thereby bypassing your router.

Probably that would work, but I am too far away from my router for a cord to get to my desktop pc :(

I have the same problem (pc too far from the router it is, not MHW issue), and I bought EOP plugs (ethernet over power), works like a charm

try this
the real solution is here if none of the above works....in WIndows 10 there is this "Radios" feature that Windows 10 or apps has control over your Wifi driver or feature, and most of the time if your computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation and suddenly your WiFi card goes missing, blame it on the NEW WINDOWS 10 PRIVACY of RADIO CONTROL IS THE CULPRIT. I faced this problem and went through a lot of websites and none of the solutions provided by them works. In the end, i found this RADIOS feature inside Windows 10 Privacy settings as I was looking to disable other privacy feature, but was surprised to see this in the Privacy settings. After this was set to OFF or Disabled....my WiFi driver works wonderfully and I do not have to restart my computer to get the WiFi to work. Other than that, some BIOS do have this "Allow OS to control WiFi driver"....Disable it!

If I had to guess, either your router (more likely) or your pc wifi card (less likely) sucks and is getting overwhelmed by MHW's traffic.

If you have a coax connection available but not ethernet, you can look at a MOCA 2.0 adapter. It's like magic, pretty much just as good as ethernet. Will cost you $80+ though.

If no ethernet and no coax, can look at powerline adapters. I've heard there's some decent ones these days.

Seems plausible that my router or wifi card gets overwhelmed, but MHW's traffic is that much? Its strange for a game like this to put under heavy traffic either of them, when i am not using the multiplayer functions at all. I was playing with a friend maybe, but in the main menu? I don't know

I have to say that because of Xbox Game Pass on Pc I had to upgrade to a less stable windows, from 1809 to 1903. Maybe it has something to do with that?
