Gamefly.com is selling it for about the same price as Steam, however they have a 20% off promo on right now so it works out to about $3.50 less for the game & DLC. They give you keys to enter into Steam. Be prepared as a first time buyer for a delay on your purchase, I had to have them call me on the phone to verify my address before they would give me the games. Pretty lame but they sorted it out fast anyway.

Don't waste time with them. They are as paranoid as the CIA. It's better to get it from Steam or wait for a GMG or Gamersgate sale.

Purchased Metro key from them, no problem at all. A simple phone call for verification, nothing strange about it-- standard call similar to your bank or CC company. Not sure why people are so put off by an extra layer of protection. It helps you just as much as it does them

For me, it was just a phone call, basically they just wanted to know the billing address on my Paypal account. I've since copy/pasted my Paypal billing address to my Gamefly account so hopefully it's a one-time thing. As long as you buy something during their hours of operation it is a fairly quick process, for me it took only a few minutes from when I purchased until the games were activated on my account. Contact them via the website live chat feature (The link is on your account overview page) and they'll forward your phone number to their PC guys ASAP.

The UK/some of Europe also have a discount code: GFDAUG20UK

I've heard that they can be a little paranoid and require verification, but I've had no problems with them from my first purchase until now.

Their phone call thing probably comes from their unique relationship with the gaming industry. They are still a rent a game company first and a sales company second. They probably have to answer for both, even if you use one. Probably licensing restrictions or something like that. They might have to verify certain people from certain places. Perhaps they don't want to get fooled by someone from a country they can't sell to or perhaps their system can't process certain locations/cards and they need manual verification to make sure they can sell.

I never had to call, but you are Canadian and I have heard other Canadians say they have had to. I'm not sure if Americans have to call or do anything special. All of my orders have gone through without a hitch and I have ordered quite a bit. You can get cashback from various sites, like FatWallet, as well.

Gamefly tells you if a game is Steam or not on the game page, towards the top, under the price, buy download, and region stuff.

On the Dishonored page, for example, you will see This title installs and requires the Steam Client to play.
