Buying this year's jingle jam?
At the end of it this bundle became OK. Not particularly good but quite OK. I had Chivalry and Binary Domain and played the hell out of them, really good games, so those were the only ones I had before. Also I'm happy with a lot of games in this bundle - Shadwen, Shu, Torchlight 2, Guacamelee, Botanicula, Steamworld Dig, Magicka 2, Gunpoint, Kholat, Goat Simulator and Psychonauts made me really happy but there were a lot of disappointing ones like the f2p games, useless dlcs, the VR exclusive and the other load of cheap stuff. So it was really a mixed bag but all in all it had a lot of great stuff that balanced all the frustratio. Also the advent calendar-like schedule made me excited the whole month long. I still have some keys, if you would like to get any of them, contact me. These are my leftovers I won't use/haven't gave away yet:

As I like to say, usually when I give $30 (or more) directly to charity, they don't give me any games. With Yogscast, they gave me a couple dozen. What's to complain about?

As many have said before, 100% to charity of your choice (!), a handful of pretty good and/or entertaining games plus lots of the bundled games have cards -> I'm quite happy.
I do have a few left overs for which I have no use, so if anyone wants any of them, add me and I'll share the keys...

Well, to be fair, Humble and Yogscast didn't revoke the game and are innocent here. This is the dev being a dirty asshole... Participating in a charity bundle just to get free promotion and then pull out of it by revoking the keys is an asshole move.
Anyone have a copy of the bundle page backed up? I'd like to see confirmation if there was a warning that these keys would be revoked. I'd bet money that there wasn't.

Playing a beta never means youre entitled to the full game. It happens yes, but not often.
There's nothing dirty about it. No false advertising, no warning needed imo. It was pretty damn obvious to me.

"Beta" doesn't mean "demo that you have temporarily and that then disappears". It's just a name for a phase of software development.
The whole situation changes when you ask money for the beta, that's the important part here. If it was just some random beta giveaway that cost us nothing but maybe a share on Facebook, this discussion wouldn't even exist. But money changed hands and that changes the whole ballgame. It doesn't really matter to us as customers that they didn't make any actual profit, money left our wallets in exchange for the games in the bundle.

A beta shouldnt be in any bundle, period. But that was HB's call. And it was pretty clear it was not a full game but a testing environment (aka beta).

A few years ago, you might've had an argument based on colloquial use of the term "beta", but since the early access model was introduced, it can no longer be argued that it's expected for beta software to be revoked once it hits 1.0. Are you aware that almost all early access games are also betas? The only information available here was that the title was "Disc Jam BETA". That it was not some form of early access was not made clear, and I'd argue that the fact that they took our money for it implied that it was early access rather than an evaporating demo.
And, yes, HB has some culpability here since they chose to include it with a poor description, but they're ultimately not the ones who chose to take advantage of a charity drive for free promotion and then revoked the keys. No matter how you slice it, taking advantage of charity like that is the dirtiest move here.

Keys werent revoked, the beta just ended = game ended.
It was pretty obvious to me that it wasnt the full release game (hence beta).
Nothing really wrong here, pretty clever of the dev actually.

No, I decided around day 15 that it was a bad buy because of all the given away and rebundled games, just because of the charity I didn't refund the whole amount. However, for the future I know for sure that
i) Yogscast can be bought on the last day, and still have everything.
ii) Yogscast doesn't necessarily keep its promises.
iii) Yogscast bundle most likely sucks ... HARD.

Discjam was labeled BETA the whole time. dont know what that means? why not ask to clarify? some did back in december and were told they will not end up with the full game. it was intended to be nothing more than an extra bonus for the day botanicula was the main game. hb offered the dev this "promo" spot so they ofc took it to maybe reach some more people. mess with hb

No, you're apparently the one who doesn't know what "beta" means. Despite what Ubisoft wants you to believe, it does not mean "demo weekend where you can play our game for a few hours and get excited about it and provide free PR for us for free through forum posts about how awesome the beta was". It just means "unfinished software that needs testing". Look it up if you want. Did you even consider the fact that all early access games are also betas (if not alphas)? There is nothing in the word "beta" that implies that we can't keep it once they hit 1.0, and if money changes hands, the reasonable expectation is that we do get to keep it.

I agree HB probably should have screened it, though a free beta experience on top of the other games isn't really a negative--in fact, beta access is often included as a preorder bonus for AAA titles.
What clearly should have been screened, though, were the DLC keys that required buying/owning the base game--worthless without a further purchase. I understand base games that are bundled to try to sell DLC, but the reverse is shitty in the extreme.

Not a ripoff qua bundle (love ya, HB!), but this was VERY deceptive and shitty of the Disc Jam devs, ESPECIALLY since Disc Jam just launched as a FREE game on PS+ this month (the Rocket League launch model, to swell the early player base, and sell lots of DLC later). Why the hell wouldn't they do the same for PC, even if the PC launch comes later?

Disc Jam reminds me of Legend of Korra's Pro-bending Tournament. I find that minigame way better than the Disc Jam's implementation so I'd rather replay that instead of Disc Jam.
Regardless, I'd very much want to be clearly informed by the Steam client each time a game silently wants to disappear from my library for any reason or when a beta, trial or wtv else ends.
Right now anything could disappear from my library and I won't even notice it unless I want to play the game that happened to vanish. I don't like this aspect of Steam one single bit.
