Have you ever won a GA for a game you wanted for a really long time, and then something went wrong (not delivered, invalid key, ...)?
i won Quantum Break last week. When i went to activate it, the steam didnt acepted the key, saying it had alredy been used.
I went to talk to the creator of the giveaway, and happily he gave me another key in the same day, and that one worked fine =]

Sorry to hear that, hopefully you'll get another chance to win the game!

Happened once, but I've been honestly more worried about the giveaway creator than anything else. Still curious what happened to this day... I just hope everything is fine and they simply decided to leave SG. It's been almost a year since they've been online.

Man, that must suck. I recently had won a key for Insurgency but it turned out that the key was region locked. It seems that the person didn't knew that so he apologized and we both agreed to delete the giveaway. (Ironically, I won that game in April 1st... XD)
So I guess that in a sense, I was lucky that time. Besides, the game wasn't really that high on my wishlist.
I hope that you have better luck next time, and thank you for the giveaways! :)

Fortunately, I never had problems with activating my wishlisted games. Mb cause i didn't win them :D
But month ago i won Siberia 2 and got activated key. Gifter told that he will give me a good key, but ofc he send me nothing during that week. So I just marked it as not received. Lame story.
Glad for you and for happy ending this story. So many kind people here!

Thanks for all your nice answers, experiences, opinions or bumps. I just wanted to tell you that I received a nice message from a user, AmanoTC, who sent me a key for the Mafia III Digital Deluxe Edition. As you can imagine, I appreciate this a lot, I am still overwhelmed that he did this for a guy he doesn't even know. Although this site (obviously) has loads of people willing to spend their money to make others happy with their gifts, I just wanted to highlight this special gesture. Thanks to you once more, Amano.
A couple of minutes later, I even got another message by another user unknown to me before, grashoppershigh, who wanted to help a SG-fellow out. Thank you as well.
If you want to, change your words of solace to some kind words for these users (or report of similar experiences). Apart from that, you can surely feel free to continue with the thread's topic. Seems that this is a relatively common thing, especially with lower levels/new users, at least I was surprised by the high number of "yes"-answers. I'm glad that it still worked out in some cases, though.

I would have never asked someone for the game, and neither would I ask one of the two guys for their shirt off their back - although I guess I owe them mine now... :)

That's really awesome that these 2 community members offered the game to you. Hats off to both of them.

I've had it happen a few times, but it's never any skin off my butt so I don't sweat it. It's not like I'm "losing" anything if I don't win, I guess.
Most recently, a win was re-rolled because the creator thought I already owned it. It was a Sonic game, and part of another package on Steam that shows up as owning the complete package if you own any games from it. I had messaged the guy in the giveaway asking why it was re-rolled, thinking I had a red mark on my record or something and wanting to correct it.
And that's when the mod who re-rolled it, Fyantastic, stepped up and offered to buy the game and gift it to me on Steam. I declined the offer, of course - it was an honest mistake, after all - but I thought it was very cool of him to offer to do that, and worth posting here.

Glad to hear things worked out for you :)
I've had a couple of not received wins and other that I couldn't activate because of regional blocks. The latest one was Stellaris, a game on my wishlist, but that unfortunately I couldn't activate and agreed to a reroll/deletion.
Thanks for the GAs!

Ahh... I always wanted to win any AAA game from a new reg user ^^

Twice for me. Once keys given were for a different game and the other time key didn't work, the questionable place it was bought didn't replace but just sent different games, so the gifter couldn't do anything there either.
But both times it were smaller games, so it didn't really bother me.

Most of the time when I've had problems with wins it's been invalid keys but they were all resoled when I contacted the GA creators. Usually little things like copy pastes gone wrong, last letter cut off type of stuff.
Glad everything worked out in the end for you.

Happened to me with Deadlight Director's Cut, a game I really wanted to play. Worst part is that SG then removed all my Deadlight entries and prohibited me from entering additional giveaways until support fixed the issue a full week alter. By then the bundle was over and people weren't making giveaways anymore.

That's really unfortunate. While it makes sense that SG automatically removes entries for games you won, therewith avoiding multiple wins, it is still sad when chances are diminished drastically due to no more giveaways for current bundle games.
Hope you will still be able to play it one day.

I once won Don't Starve Together and was incredibly happy ^.^
but thanks to Steam, the GA creator needed to reroll. She was from South America, if I remember correctly, I'm from Germany, so I couldn't activate the gift.
She was very sweet and although I was a bit sad, I know it wasn't her fault and I'm glad that I could send the gift back to her so she could reroll and make someone else happy :3

That sucks. I'm in the exact same situation right now. In about 5 hours I'm going to have to mark Action Henk as not received, and I'd entered a lot of GAs. But now since the bundle's done there aren't any more. Still though, getting games for free, can hardly complain if one doesn't materialize ever so often.

I've won The Walking Dead (I don't remember which part), it turned out somebody's little brother has been using his PC. Seems like a standard excuse but I've said we can delete the giveaway so he wouldn't get 'not received' but they didn't care what happens to that account so I guess little brother could be real this time :P

Did you open a thread about it back then? I remember a story about a little brother somewhere else, not sure anymore what it exactly it was about, though. This would confirm the fact that little brothers are good excuses, haha. But as you said - benefit of the doubt.

Little brothers seem to appear quite often in the internet stories :P I don't remember opening the thread about it, so I've just probably marked as not received and moved on, once the guy has told me he didn't care what will happen to "his" SG account :)

I entered quite a lot of Mafia III GAs here since I had the game of my wishlist for a long time. As you can imagine, I was really happy when I received an email telling me that I won Mafia III (especially since it had more than 10k entries).
Unfortunately, I didn't receive it, even though the GA creator was online afterwards, both on SG and Steam. Attempts to contact him/her failed, as I have never received an answer. The key for the user's other GA, Deus Ex MD, apparently wasn't delivered either.
To be fair, I never had problems with any of the GAs I won, the longest time I had to wait for the key was maybe three days, and all of my keys worked fine. I never had to mark anything as "not received". Checking the stats confirms that most keys are actually sent to their winners. Still, I was (am) really sad that this particular game was the one I didn't receive. Even new users were often fast in delivering keys, or at least telling you that they need one or two days more.
I wanted to know if something similar has happened to you before - you entered GAs for game xy hundreds of times, then you win it, and something goes wrong. Or, if you generally often won/win giveaways where keys were/are not delivered, meaning you have a high number of non-received giveaway wins.
