Thanks to a little team work in the chat, we categorized all the popular bundles, their start date, and corresponding games. If you have a second, and feel like helping out, review the list and let us know if we're missing anything. Keep in mind, it's only including Steam games. We're trying to build a list of games that could possibly be abused on our site, and at the same time, a method to better determine contributor values. Thanks!

indie bundle games list I guess you added all of them in the list.

Also there are some issues with:

  • IGN Prime keys since they were exploited. How to solve: Only count 1 copy of them and make the rest not counted, everyone who shared multiple copies most likely exploited the site.

  • Polish Magazine keys.

  • Some keys given away for free like shadowgrounds games from summerseal.com

  • Ravaged beta keys which can be obtained for free from their fb and site and lots of users shared those as full game keys giving 25$ value each. Actually one of the users who wrote here shared 13 copies... and probably other beta keys I can't think of right now

  • Also please remove value from reported abuser's account just suspending a few days is like rewarding them.

  • Please give users chance to prove their games are legit and not from bundles with some proof of purchase.

You forgot one more, that gives highest ammount to contributor and won't be affected with new system. Private and small-group giveaways. Sharing non exixted keys to friends to rise contributor value, that can't be checked by SG moderators.

Thanks for mentioning it, I know it's another well-known problem. But it's not abused as much as bundle keys and not related bundle key thread. Anyway it can only be solved by monitoring suspicious giveaways, since it's an obvious abuse attempt i think it needs bigger punishment as well.

Wat? Yes, it can. We perma-ban for it all the fucking time.

We just don't hear about it because of the no-callouts rule. And, they can't come here and complain -- they've been banned.

Well, I saw obvious bans, they deserved bans just for stupidity of how obvious was their scam. Very often. But how can you check private account? Or non-Steam Battlefield 3?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's almost always obvious when it's a boosting attempt rather than a legit giveaway. Even if we do get it wrong (only seen that once so far), we can just ask for a screenshot of their library. If the account is private, the admin can also see their synced library, so we can use that as well.

"Please give users chance to prove their games are legit and not from bundles with some proof of purchase."

This can't really be done because support are only volunteers and this would bring in an insane amount of new tickets and they are already flooded enough.

Any sort of check that can be performed manually to insure that a user possesses a non-bundle copy (which would mean that it's in their Steam inventory) can also be done automatically.

This means that a user would need to briefly make their Steam profile and inventory public, but it would be a completely optional step. If the user wants to do this then they get full contributor credit. If not then they don't. This step doesn't even need to occur when the giveaway is created; it could happen at any time while the giveaway is still active.

A user could potentially buy something like a single gift-able copy of Rig'n'Roll off Steam, and use it to create a giveaway (as he can prove he has a non-bundle copy in his Steam inventory). After the giveaway ends, he then gives the winner a bundle key and still receives full contributor credit.

However, in the grand scheme of things, this isn't all that bad. Even though he tricked the system into allowing him to give away a bundle key for it's full contributor value, it was still backed by a store-bought copy. When he confirmed that he owned a copy in his inventory, the unique ID for that gift was also recorded. If he were to try to give away a second Rig'n'Roll bundle key using the same gift in his inventory, the system would recognize that this gift was used to confirm a giveaway already and refuse it. If he wants to giveaway the Steam-bought copy now, he won't receive full credit.

I've decided to hang onto this information, the majority of my corrections weren't posted by anyone else and clearly never planned on being used.

Most indie bundle wikis and websites even have incorrect information, but best of luck fixing that list up!

no single key can still be abused.
For example a ton of people submitted the full bundle key under the name Amnesia to get more contribution.

sorry for another reply but even saying you might be right in this matter, ther is nof*cking way to exploit bastion or killing floor more than buying it on steam sale

Don't forget the ship... it was never really free and wasn't exploitable either.
For those who don't remember. People who bought it got 2 gift copies and people who activated it those got their own gifts to give. I think it totaled up to 11 copies per purchase.
As for exploiting it, the extra copies were locked behind activations so there was no way for 1 person to get more than a couple.

Disclaimer: Why yes, it is my only contribution... I'm such a horrible person.

yeah. But that is also on the list. The game could not be given away as it is not a steam key. So. It needs to be excluded.

Current list seems pretty solid, only error I can find from a quick glance is that Ninja Blade on IndieGala 5 is listed, despite there being no steam key included in the bundle for that game, copy given was DRM-free.

Why do you say that? You can still easily submit these games and receive full value for them. They only begin to lower in value if you post an unusually high number. For example, if you're a regular contributor, you can post a copy of Shadowgrounds, The Ship, etc, and not be affected. However, if you post 50 copies of Shadowgrounds, your value will be lowered.

Hey cg, I don't mean to bother you, but I had a question regarding which keys would be included?

Will anything that's been given away in key form be added? We've had Faerie Solitaire given away here, GPU manufacturers bundle game keys all the time, giving out keys from KickStarters seems popular, will all of these be excluded too?

I've gone through your list and pointed out every mistake or tidbit of information that should be noted and would gladly continue, just need clarification as to what you're looking for.

I think:

  • faerie solitaire
  • lucid
  • ravaged beta
  • IGN Prime keys above 1 copy

keys should be added to the exploited/bundle games list.

Comment has been collapsed.

Ravaged beta is already out as i know. It's forbidden.

I also think IGN Prime keys are okay, too.Since there's no way to abuse system to get keys without paying for membership, hey,it's the point already right?

Comment has been collapsed.

Well calling out users isnt allowed so I cant link some guys with 5 to 30 copies of ign prime keys here.. And there was a way to exploit ign prime membership esp for russians, dunno if it's still working but they already had enough keys from there i think...

So is it wrong to assume %98 of users who have more than 1 ign prime membership got it by exploiting the site?

The Binding of Isaac is the last game on the "bundles game list". But If I make one giveaway of The Binding of Isaac soundtrack, The Binding of Isaac with Soundtrack, or The Binding of Isaac Complete (available for sale during the summer sale) it will count to contributor or bundle value?

Do full bundles (like the indie gala giveaways) count as normal giveaways since they are already discounted, or do they fall into this 20% bundle key thing?

Looks like they do count towards normal giveaways.

I think Bastion specifically should be excluded. It was a BtA game (in fact, it was the only BtA game) and the average was almost nine bucks, which is more than it goes on sale for on Steam.

Also, you should remove the games from Humble Bundles that used the one-key-multiple-game policy, at least those games affected by said policy. I don't see why those should be discounted when the games didn't get individual keys.

Edit: zolwiciel already made a list of games that didn't come with individual keys. Obviously, trying to use HIB keys for giveaways of individual games should be and/or is against the rules, but...

How about make the value of the railworks 3 all american bundle be that which the Russian buyers actually, paid, which was like, 3 USD instead of the 72 USD it is 'worth'? During the summer sale people were giving away hundreds of those, I highly doubt that was done with the legitimate desire to give a game to someone else...all that did was artificially inflate the contribution value of a small group of people. I foresee an unfortunate increase in minimum contribution required to enter quite a few giveaways from people who look at the average contribution value. The game was $7.19 USD in the US during the sale, and what, ~$2.50 - 3.50 in Russia?

This is what I read:
I have an idea: devalue any game that I don't like that has gone on sale with the reasoning that if I don't like it, nobody does, despite the fact that people entered giveaways for it, which must mean that people were only giving away games to get contributor status!

If you don't see the lack of logic in there, I'm afraid you're beyond my help.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you don't see that Railworks flood was started only because it could cheaply "skyrocket" your contribution status, then I'm afraid you are beyond my help.

Also you should notice that author of idea is talking about lowering contribution points and not adding it to bundle list, which would be nothing else than justice.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Ok, but the point is, that there have been dozens, or hundreds of games that have dropped to 90% (or more) off. Do we lower the contribution points for all of these? Or just the ones you don't like? Yes, obviously a lot of people only bought the railworks game to boost their contribution status. But ... so what? They're buying games to give to other people, and last I checked, that was the point of this site.

There's only one key on the new IndieGala7 for these 2 games, so people are making giveaways of Death to Spies: Gold correctly, but it needs to be added to http://www.steamgifts.com/bundles/list and http://www.steamgifts.com/create, and treated as a bundle game too.

FYI - I was creating a giveaway for some of my extra IG happy hour keys and noticed that Theatre of War: Africa 1943 doesn't have an asterisk beside it.

Also Death to Spies in IG is 2 keys in one, so Death to Spies Gold (which is what the key essentially is) should probably have an asterisk on it too?

Should probably fix it.

You're right, they're not. But according to the FAQ keys for these games will be added to each purchase should these games succeed in Steam Green Light. So it's just something to keep in mind for now.

And BM4 has 4 steam games in it, which, as we all know, now constitute 90% of newly-created giveaways.
