I said in the edit it was 50%, so yes I was wrong when I said it was a minority.

It's the cheapest method, apart from the free cards you get from votes, from buying games (remember it's the big sale, people buy a lot of games), and the lots and lots of people that have game cards lying in their inventory and craft them (1 point) and get 1 free card, and the 1 or 2 free card that you get each day where you made at least 1 point.

Yes a lot of these free cards get sold in the market (~100,000*10 per day) but a certain number do not.

Edit: oh and I forgot about the 500 and 1,000 points boost, that some get for free when crafting the summer badge, some get sold, some are used directly, so lots of potential free points.

Though I guess you could argue that these free cards and token could have been sold instead, not sure what your number represents in that case.
