Copium... or Cassandra?

There was an alpha version of it accidentally released already not long ago, so 100% they are working on it.
At most it might have been cancelled at some point because ppl taught it was the final product, and it was buggy as hell and looked horrible.

It's lucky I already bought myself that game over GOG. I doubt that it's replacement would be significantly better....

Is this a sign they're still making the new one?

It's rumored, but it's strange they remove it without a last sold or at least an annoucement :/

They love to not tell us whats going on, but I think they're removing it because they want to keep the original title, and to avoid people finding the old one. It's sad because they should preserve old games. They could've added at 2003 after it and that would've been good.

But why remove the original? Last time I heard about it they were making a sequel not a remake.

My guess would be that they want to launch it with the same title, so they're trying to avoid conflicting titles and confusing people who look it up and see a 20 year old game.

Oh crap, I didn't consider that they might be planning to pull that one. Why do they keep doing that? It's so pointlessly confusing, just give it a subtitle.

Was the port any good? The Prince of Persia games ports suck ass on Steam

I played it on PC way back, and it was great. Even the last battle, which has a peculiar mechanic, worked perfectly.
One thing that might not work now is the web part - doubt it's still running these days. But everything inside the game should work nicely.

That's good to hear. The PoP games are a buggy mess, and have terrible controller support, very disappointing.

I only ever played it on PC, it was fantastic. Got it the same year it released (2003), and I don't recall there being any issues with the gameplay (ie, even in the sense of needing patching or the like); I recall finding combat being smooth and responsive, and I don't recall any movement issues (y'know, unlike with 2007's first Assassin's Creed release >.>;). IIRC the photography elements were a bit clunky, but I think that was more by basic design than due to platform considerations.

Googling, the console version apparently gets criticism for not handling the photo camera mode aspect well (people don't like how it's handled by left joystick rather than right, or its joystick sensitivity), while the PC version apparently can have some bugs with the general game camera sensitivity (though it looks like that's fairly easy to fix, from what I can see). PC version can also apparently have either cutscene or other graphic bugs with Win 10+ but, again, it looks like those are correctable. I only did a fairly quick search but, all the same, I didn't pull up any other criticisms of either platform option in the initial results I pulled up.

Last played it back in 2015, only issue I had was having to manually select my graphics card in the launcher

Funny how people don't trust Ubisoft, and it's already on the 5th line of GOG's bestsellers.

They probably won't remove it from GOG but I wouldn't trust them either.

I guess it was only a delisting and relisting to put it up for $20 instead of $10.Why do these companies not just focus on making new games with new stories, but keep doing these anniversary editions, idk.

And also, do they want to make everyone pay for it again? Man the original one didn't even work on my PC and they want to make me pay for fixes :/

it was already running badly on my computer in 2010 (telling me my graphic cards was outdated because it didn't supported it). I prefer a new game than trying to "fix" the old code base. (but connect can go f- itself)

Is it true that the new steam version requires ubisoft connect?

Happy cake day!

And sadly, yes to your question. I am definitely not buying it again. I already have the game on my library. And I would rather buy the GOG version that dealing with Ubisoft connect.

It says right on the page yes, and Denuvo also.

"AN INTERNET CONNECTION, A UBISOFT CONNECT ACCOUNT AND INSTALLATION OF THE UBISOFT CONNECT CLIENT SOFTWARE (https://ubisoftconnect.com/) AND REGISTRATION WITH ENCLOSED SINGLE-USE SERIAL CODE ARE REQUIRED TO ACTIVATE THE GAME AFTER INSTALLATION ON ANY NEW COMPUTER, AUTHENTICATE YOUR COMPUTER AT ANY GIVEN TIME, ACCESS ONLINE FEATURES, PLAY OR UNLOCK EXCLUSIVE CONTENT."

Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition -15% off at greenmangaming
No idea if the rerelease is any good, but saw this in my email.

Seems like it has some nasty DRM and requires Ubisoft Connect, so I'm passing.

The version GMG (and any other retailer) is selling, is Ubisoft Connect only anyways. If you want it on Steam, you can only buy it on Steam itself.

Oh, lame. I guess they want the review count to go up since there won't be any Steam key purchases.

Amazing game where else can you have a pig as your sidekick? Played the GOG version years ago in 4K already so I don't see much sense to cough up money for a slightly improved(?) version. Where's the remake which was promised one and a half decade ago? Lazy bastards
