I don't think you should compare the graphics between RAGE and Borderlands 2, in my opinion their style are totally different. And yes it's worth $4.99 and if you want to play more single player levels you should buy that DLC as well!

RAGE is a lot of fun, if not perfect. It's more of a shooter in comparison to Borderlands 2, Fallout 3, and Skyrim.
The story ain't all that great, the graphics are nice, but the gameplay is imo great. I really like the shooting RAGE.
It's also a single player game really. There isn't much to play with another person.

I really can't tell much. I played for it an hour and I just didn't like it.

I think the better question is rather or not it is worth the absolutely enormous amount of space it wants. Why on Earth does it need 25 gig to install? I have played absolutely massive games that were beautiful and had huge worlds with a hundred hours of gameplay or more and they were all half the size of this thing or even much less.

i think every game worth at least 5 bucks, except war-z xd

A boring, repetitive post-apo FPS. If you liked Borderlands or Dead Island, you may as well like RAGE- I didn't like any of those and RAGE was a waste of 6,2 dollars (20 PLN) for a few hours of mediocre gameplay. The boomerang thingy was kind of fun, I guess, but overall the game is just another linear shooter set in an uninteresting (for me, at least) enviroment.

Yeah, having seen this gameplay video, I have to say... It reminds me a LOT of Borderlands, just with a Fallout-ish style - which I would totally dig :D
Is storytelling really SO bad with this one?

Honestly, I don't remember much about the plot of the game, despite having it played somewhere around March/April... So it isn't anything memorable, but I don't think anyone plays these kind of games for great story- just to shoot at things ;)

rage 3's story is shit. theres no way around it, its terrible. if you're here for story, you'll be disapointed.
what you SHOULD be here for, is the fantastic combat, the great artistic design and cool post apocalyptic atmosphere. the game does require investment and patience on your part though, as its pretty much an unpolished gem, and theres a lot of unfocused 'fluff' in it (like car racing, mini games, etc..). your borderlands 2 comparison is apt, as the game is primarily 'quest' related... go here, clean this place out, come back. go here, kill them, come back. go here, find this item, come back, etc etc.... but i did finish teh game, i did enjoy the majority of the experience, and the gameplay is very tight and satisfying if you enjoy shooter mechanics, and while the textures are low resolution, the 'overall' artistic quality is really good.
it did however take me two tries at the game to actually get into it and finish it, so like i said... enjoyable game, but you'll have to work at finding the good stuff to enjoy :D - its there, but impatient gamers or those unwilling to give a game a proper chance if it takes a little while, wont see it.

okay, this made me actually watch a thorough Gameplay Video :P
By now, I'm almost convinced the style would suit my gaming preferences - and I think I would enjoy the "fluff" you mentioned - as far as SP concerns me, I'm all for it now :P
What about coop and MP functions? I know, I say that a lot here, but this is the dealbreaker ;)

Boss fights are always fun - that goes on my PRO list ;)
When you say collection and crafting... dou you mean (how do I put this..) an internal achievement system such as the challenges in Borderlands 2 or rather building your own equipment off of rare things you can find, like for instance in Final Fantasy VIII ?

Hm, dont know what it was in BL2 and FF -) But I doubt it is something similar here. Just some equipment is rare or expensive in shops and u can find separate details and craft it. And then sell it.
Oh, and i forgot to mention nice card mini-game and few another minigames.

It's a decent shooter and most definitely worth 5 bucks. Most people that were disappointed with it expected either Fallout with Doom graphics or a shooter revolution. It's neither, there are very few RPG elements but the shooting mechanics work and that's the most important thing for a fps. It probably would have gotten more praise if it wasn't from ID but from some random east european developer. I guess people had too high expectations.

It's one of the best FPS games ever made!
Good graphics, smooth gameplay - cool weapons. Option to craft stuff(like bandages, turrets, health boosts,...)
Very nice racing parts in it!
A lot of cool minigames!
I unlocked 83% of the achievements. One day I will make a second playthrought.
MP part is also nice - if you have a buddy.

"MP part" please do go into further detail, I'm not doubting it's a fun singleplayer game but I bought it last year on the mistaken belief that it had MP co-op campaign then my friend can back and said nope, just some crappy maps like a handful of missions.... then we went back to Borderlands..

You're looking for MP, there's no co-op campaign in RAGE, just some maps you can play together or something.... for this reason I never actually installed it... it's a shame you missed the Defiance sale, it's been a lot of fun co-op, a lot of driving fun, mission fun, with the promise of new things being added soon, a pay once "MMO", though it is very casual and possibly not strictly an MMO(it doesn't take months or lots of planning to get somewhere in your character development)
Also of interest is Saints Row: The Third, though it is very crass, vulgar, and juvenile, the engine itself and gameworld has very solid co-op campaigns, and very fun gameplay.
If you buy RAGE for multiplayer you will be sorely disappointed.
PS: You might consider branching out on your genre, I had heard good things about Torchlight 2 co-op that I grabbed a couple copies, here's a friend's STEAM reccomendation:
I has all the key features I love in a game: looting, having a companion on your journey, looting, ranged character, looting, long gameplay, looting, kicking enemies' asses, looting, grinding to get a better level, looting, secrets on maps... Did I already mention looting?
88/100 metacritic(for what it's worth)

I just bought it, it was only a few quid with the DLC, so nothing to lose :)

Rage is a fun SP game,BUT the open world is not available for COOP,instead you play a few levels on the same track as Far cry 3 did. There is a new DLC out( the scorchers ) that adds some MP stuff aswell, but you will NOT be able to play the full open world experience in coop.
For that I would tell you to buy something along the lines of saints row 3.
On a sidenote, here are some good games I play with my boyfriend which i think you would enjoy,or atleast give you some alternatives.
Trine 2 is a nice rpg/adventure that is really nice in 2 players(max 3 coop)
Van helsing is a diablo like rpg that is really great in coop.
Terraria is a 2d platformer ,minecraft style with rpg elements. It's really awesome, and mods make it shine. Also there is a new update coming soon.
Godmode or The Haunted: Hells Reach or killing floor.Third person survive your ass off shooters with rpg elements. You level up,unlock perks and new stuff.Good for 2+ coop. If you don't like the RPG part, you should consider Left 4 Dead 2
Payday ( or better wait for payaday 2 ), good shooter, has roleplay elements. The second promises a lot of new cool stuff.
Monaco,THIS ,this will make you squeak and squeal. It's a game built around coop, unfortunately to play it in a decent way,you need 4 players, otherwise you're in for some frustration.
Renegade ops is fun as hell, but alas a bit too short, including dlc campaigns :(
Fear 3 is REALLY good in coop, and should be considered.
Other mentions: dungeonland, cs: go, dungeon defenders, portal 2,magicka( only if you play on lan, online coop is extremely unstable) ,bunch of heroes,hl2 with synergy.
I mostly play coop as yourself and these are most of the games I play.I usualy play 2 player coop, with occasional 4 players.Hope I helped a little

this.
:D Together with my GF, I've played L4D2, Portal2, Trine2, Borderlands2, Dungeon Defenders, Synergy Mod for HL2 and, long ago, some MMORPGs, like WoW and TERA.
Having read every post in this thread I tend to not buy RAGE (it would be only a shootfest, and not too much fun, especially considering the lack of MP), and go for another "Blockbuster" :=)
Thanks sokie ;)
And of course Thank you everyone else - this is why I love this forum :P
You've helped me a lot - be thanked ;)

I've enjoyed playing Borderlands 2 with my GF and I loved Bethesda's games - especially Fallout 3 and Skyrim.
So.. is RAGE more like a more graphically beautiful Borderlands 2 or or does it tend towards a bad-storytelling-Fallout 3?
What do you guys think?
Could I play this with my GF and NOT be frustrated that the Summer Sale was an overall bad time to spend money?
