Realms of Arkania yep, you will need a piece of paper to write down alot of stuff

Fez is not that hard to navigate after you start to understand how it works.
Legend of Grimrock is another story. I really tried to like this game, but nope. Droped any intentions of playing dungeon crawlers after that, so can't give you any advice and this is just a ramble.

Fez isn't THAT hard once you understand how the world works... but that took me quite a bit of trial and error and taking notes.
Still, I don't think I'll be able to beat the last 3 puzzles.

I used to really like this game Shining in the Darkness when it was on the sega genesis and luckily its now on steam, you could definitely bust out the graph paper if you wanted.
Might and Magic III, IV, and V were also pretty cool, Ultima Underworldis another great example, I was blown away when i first played this game back in the day, since it was a lot more action oriented than the 1st person rpgs i was used to like the might and magic series.

That will be both easy and satisfying as i guess. By the way you don't need to use pen and paper to draw maps and take notes but... I hope you'll like it.

This is very interesting. This post kinda makes me feel oldschool. I miss games that I need to write stuff down to keep me on track. Hell, even write passwords down on SNES or Genesis.
A game that made me do this recently was South Park: The Stick of Truth. You find some notes sometimes and don't know what they mean, so I wrote them down and eventually used them later. Felt good, but it was only two or three.
Thank you for this post! I'll keep a close eye on it.

If you don't mind old games play the Wizardry games, or if you don't mind emulating them do that too.
Not sure if Might & Magic X has a in-game map or not, the series in general too.
Here are some other that are playable on PC
Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos
Phantasy Star 1
Shin Megami Tensei 1 & 2 - Have a mapping feature in the menu, but you can completely avoid it
Arcana
King's Field series - Slow paced action-RPG dungeon crawler.
Shadow Tower - same as above

The Might and Magic series? Dungeon Master ist the classic answer to your question, obviously... the D&D games are pretty good, too; Planescape: Torment is one of the best games ever made and I will fight anyone who says differently. The Ultima series up to 6, the whole age of armageddon was kinda wonky. If you're looking for interesting puzzles, The Secret World has a few investigation missions that are really a lot of fun (they're loosely what I model my puzzle giveaways after).

Thanks for the recommendations.
The Secret World is something I've been interested on for a pretty long time but the fact that it's an MMO and the high price kinda kept me away from it. I can rarely afford games and when I do buy them I wait for a sale... I don't know... If I see a chance I'll get it.
I'll probably try Might and Magic and Ultima since I also had some people recommend them to me.
Gonna write down the rest.

Just got a 72 hour trial key on the forums... When I'm done playing Splinter Cell I'll uninstall it and make room for TSW. :D

BLOODWYCH!!!
The first real RPG i played when i was a kid (I had an Amstrad 6128 at that time, but it was released on PC, and there's even a remake). You're going to wish you had more paper to draw the maps and don't get lost. Also, it's an awesome classic.

Hi guys!
I am a PC gamer. But I got into PCs after many old school were released and forgotten. This means I haven't played many games some people would consider classics or they simply loved them as a child. I do play old games from time to time but sometimes it's hard getting into them when they feel so outdated.
So I had heard about games, specially dungeon crawlers, where you'd need pen and paper to play. Like, taking notes or drawing maps. Recently I've been playing a few games that actually required me to do that, but not to an extreme level. Fez was the one that took the most effort... Damn, that game is hard to 100%. I also thought of playing Legends of Grimrock with the map disabled so I have to draw it myself. I might do that next week.
I wanted to find more of these games but all I can find is board games that, eventho they look nice, I never had people to play with.
Can you guys recommend me some games? I don't care if they're old or not, but it'd be interesting to know that there are still new games like that, if you know any.
Thanks.
