Hi lads! I would really like it if you would share with me the most profound and delicate game soundtracks you ever heard. I need to fill my FiiO M11 :)

For now I can say:

  • Stellaris
  • Endless Space 2
  • Farcry Blood Dragon
  • Dishonored
  • Divinity Original Sin 2
  • Pillars of Eternity
  • Fallout 1 & 2
  • Tyranny
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance
  • Layers of Fear
  • Subnautica
  • The elder scrolls series
  • X4 Foundations
  • Xcom 2

You do the rest. Gotta need those sweet sweet soundtracks. Movies accepted if exceptional and really ambient.

Doom

profound and delicate

You made me chuckle, but yeah it's a great one, i don't know why but i still prefer the old ones like this: https://youtu.be/KxED1xXR58I

I blame nostalgia

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, but I like the old ones too.

Also, the radio stations on GTA series are pure gold.

Both the original NieR and NieR Automata have incredible soundtracks. Drakengard 3, too.

I actually mute (close to) all game music as soon as I can so I can't really answer this ^^

I did really like the music in Zelda Ocarina of Time and some other Zelda games

That's interesting, why? You never at least take the time to be "bored" of the game music? :D

Nope, first thing I do with games is change them to Windowed mode and mute the music, if I want to listen to music during gaming I will listening to my own music, for some reason that just became a habit

As a collection I'd recommend The Greatest Video Games Music I and II. by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, they made a great selection of notable soundtracks and their sound is superb.

On a per game basis here are the ones I would recommend (and also listen to in my soundtrack playlist:P):

Bastion (and other music by Darren Korb too I guess)
Braid
Mass Effect (1-3)
Assassin's creed (especially the township compositions, like Rome or Venice)
Halo (1-3 and ODST all have really good ones by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori)
Portal 2 has nice electronic ambient (like 9999999), though I'd say they are best suited to actually play the game as they use a very clever layered mechanic, where music gets more intense as you are getting closer to the puzzle solution
Call of Duty 2 Modern Warfare.. ok ok hear me out, this was made by THE Hans Zimmer, it even sounds somewhat similar to the likes of Black Hawk Down, yet more game-y?! check it out
Starcraft 2 - Terran side tracks are awesome. Especially Heaven's Devils which is a treausre. And I was actually a Zerg player so I'm not even supposed to like what the terran scum are listening to....... oh well
The Last of Us but actually only the theme music by the same name, I don't think the rest holds up out of context (it works ingame though)
Furi (I only feel confident as you mentioned subnautica too, this one has both ambient and EDM, with great build ups)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (a tad better, than Mankind Divided)
Journey
Hollow Knight (City of Tears... Greenpass... great songs)
Celeste
The two firelink shrine and one Majula track of Dark Souls 1-3

If you like call of duty modern warfare 2 soundtrack, you will also love the soundtrack of the new modern warfare. Eventhough its not made by the best on this field, its so damn good.

Enderal, a wonderful free mod for Skyrim. The soundtrack is incredible.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow, beautiful tracks, Belmont's Theme is my favorite.
You said X4 Foundations, I'd add X3.
Child of Light pretty please.

Nice DAP you got there ;) What IEMs/headphones are you using with ?

Not released yet but Pedro Camacho is killing it with the Star Citizen soundtrack. Here's a playlist

Ari Pulkkinen is another composer i really like, his work on Trine series and Nex Machina is really awesome.

As far as movies goes, First Man, La La Land, Blade Runner 2049 or Interstellar are some i always bring with me wherever i go.

If you want something different and want to test your new toy listen to Yosi Horikawa, pretty cool stuff.

Do you like our owl?

I use the Sony WH-1000XM3, and outside if i'm not too picky on quality i go for the Avantree TWS120

Our owl ? What do you mean ?

Haven't heard the XM3 but they are fairly popular. Maybe i'll grab the XM4, supposed to be coming later this year. I didn't know Aventree had some TWS. They seems nice aswell, aptx codec and decent battery life. I have some cheap Soundpeats TWS, i only use them for working out so i didn't feel the need to spend more on it.

I like Christopher Tin's work. Things like "Calling All Dawns" and "To Shiver the Sky" from Civilization, and the Offworld soundtrack.

Eve Online - I'm particularly partial to the original Soundtrack. "Miner Stories" is likely my favorite.

World of Warcraft has a huge selection of moods to pick from. Some tracks stand out (like grizzly hills). There's also nearly an hour of just "Tavern" music.

The Civ OST are nice (shame the games aren't that fantastic tho.. but you can disagree), not a "civ" game but Call to Power 2 had some nice tunes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1jxQaW5PQI
