I'm interested as long as it's cheaper than Steam. I couldn't care less about having 1000 clients, as long as I'm saving money.

happy cakeday!

I agree.
I didn't buy it when it was purchasable on Steam and never will if it doesn't get sold there again. lol

You are underestimating the vast impact this announcement has on billions of people all around the globe. One thread can't handle that.

The stock exchanges are crumbling all over the world. Russia, China, S.A. and USA have readied their nuclear arsenal and Valve announced Nintendo exclusives coming to Steam as PC ports in response. This is it bois, it all ends here.

There's a website called RetroAchievements which adds achievement systems to games running on emulators. Here's the achievement list for Super Mario 64 ;P

I mean, it's business, right? It can't be denied, this was obviously necessary for them since they probably got a massive cash infusion. Fine, let 'em do it. You can't say that they can't do it.

But damn are they total retards and it's a slap in the face for those who actually support(ed) them. They make terrible business decisions and now they basically sell out for an exclusive because they suck at game development.
As I said before, they can do this. But I'll never buy this game if it stays there forever. And in all honesty, I'm very doubtful as to whether I'd ever buy The Final Frontier now too. I don't want incomplete things. This is incomplete and it seems it'll stay that way. I supported The Walking Dead on day 1 and even when they made mistakes, I backed them up because their stories were good and they managed to give me memorable experiences. This, with the way they handled their bankruptcy, has shown me that they don't care for video games, their fans or their creations. They want the money, they've always wanted the money and they're utter scumbags who don't deserve a dime. Same goes for Epic. They had some balls to get those shitheads on board.

God I hope this money goes to pay all their employees their severance and their wages. Plus, this better give their current skeleton crew (because let's be honest, those fuckers can't do better than that) some proper conditions to work in.

Telltale was an underdog. Now Telltale is the weaker and more feeble version of EA. Screw them and the horse they rode in. If you, the reader, have any sense of morals and basic decency, then you should read up on them and probably even steer clear (unless you're really fond of basically having slave labor and shit).

Damn, this just tipped me over the edge so much.

It's a slap in the face for those who actually support(ed) them.

But those who actually supported them already own the game on Steam (and will receive the remaining episodes there), don't they?

Unless they were holding out for a -90% sale in which case they didn't actually support them. Did they?

No. Support isn't solely money, first of all. Also, not everyone has the money to give immediately. That 20€ was, for example, my entertainment budget for the month when it came out. The game wasn't fully out yet, so it would've been financially idiotic to buy it. Plus, nowadays it's even less than that, with the real amounts per month being around 5-10€. So yeah, I'm not from a very rich country, so I can't afford that stuff. But I buy them when I can. I talk about those games to my friends (By now I've gotten around 7-8 people into the franchise). If you think support can be shown solely through monetary contributions, then that's fine. Personally, I think what I've done is more than enough to show that I'm supportive of them.

But I guess a person can't be a Lord of the Rings supporter because he can't afford to buy the premium tickets for the newest Hobbit movie for its exclusive first screening.

Let's leave the question whether non-financial support like that puts food on the developers tables and keeps the lights on at Telltale for now.

I just think you guys are making a huge deal about nothing. If it's about the game play it on the Epic launcher. I assume you already have it anyway because of Subnautica.

If it's about absolutely NEEDING to have that game on Steam you should maybe re-evaluate your own behaviour. As somebody who has lived all my life with a rather mild case of obsessive behaviour myself I can tell you those things can be worked on if you identify the problem and try to adress it.

I think the point is that people don't want to use the Epic launcher. I get it. You're fine if you're using UPlay, Origin, GOG, Steam, Epic, Bethesda, Battle(Net), Itch.io, Windows Store and Paradox all together, but for me, it's just too much. I don't have the will and the desire to go for my 7th client now. It started on Steam, I put money into the Steam versions, so I was expecting to end on Steam.

As I said, they can do this. They're allowed to. No one's saying they can't. I just said that I won't put up with it. That this is the last straw for me and that even Epic is doing a terrible thing by accepting to work with them after everything they've done.

I don't have a need for it. I'll get over it. Just like I would if I actually got slapped in the face. There's a reason I used that point and why I said everything around it. I won't suffer much if I don't get the game. But that doesn't mean that everything they've done so far is just fine because "They're allowed to do it". This has little to do with having obsessive behavior (though I do use multiple sites that are connected to the Steam's API and I do most of my stuff connected to it. It's the principle of it and I think you know it. Hard to think that I'm literally in agony or something (though nothing I wrote would've even referred to something like that) because of this.

But I guess this is a mental issue where you can say "I've done this too" to get those friendliness points to solidify your argument and then saying that "you should address it" to basically completely steer off the entire point. I find that type of a demagogic move in a conversation to be extremely underhanded. We can sit here and pretend like it was done with the best of intentions, but you're a human being with thought processes and you know exactly the point of a diversion like this.

But yeah, even though you wanted to abandon that topic, I think getting around 150€-200€ worth of sales through my personal recommendations is pretty damn solid when it comes to support. Way better than my 60€ (if counting for full price purchases, which I'd never do with any game) would've done overall. So yeah, if that stuff doesn't keep your lights on, then yeah, my point will still stand.

Think of my intentions what you will.

That this is the last straw for me and that even Epic is doing a terrible thing by accepting to work with them after everything they've done.

So I assume you won't buy the game even after it will be eventually inevitably released on Steam in a year or two after developers realize 88% of a muffin is less than 70% of a four story wedding cake?

From what I can gather, the exclusivity deal is unlimited and won't expire over time. They can't bring it over from their own accord either, so it's doubtful it'll happen. But if it does, it's a good question.
Over time, things might change.
So, if everything stays the same and the only thing changing is that the game's on Steam again, then I'd stay with my current idea and not buy it. I wasn't going to buy it as protest after the bankruptcy issues.
If they apologize for everything they've done and acknowledge why their company went under, then it's a solid maybe, though I think in the end I'd still not buy it.
If they rebuild the company and this time treat their employees well and actually work on their games instead of pumping them out every few weeks, then maybe I'd buy it, though in the end I'd buy it most likely.
If all of those above mentioned things happened, then I'd definitely buy it.

Skybound CEO Ian Howe and president of interactive Dan Murray said in a joint statement. "Epic stepped up to the plate immediately to work with us in order to bring the original team back together and ensure fans will receive the completed season of Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season".

It's like Nintendo with Bayonetta, the game wouldn't exist without Epic so it's kind of logical for them to want it exclusively on their new store

Looking for Steam keys for this is no fun, You'll find them easily enough, but for 50-150€/$....
But WinGameStore sells 'em for $ 29,99 still (okay, not cheap, but cheap-ish....) Got myself a Steam key from there today.

Don't use WinGameStores internal search - will not show anything. Google ''WinGameStore The Walking Dead'' instead, or follow this link.
