I've recently got an interest in singing from hearing my favorite songs. They make me feel so good and so powerful, and I wanted to let that feeling out with my voice. Obviously it's gone terrible - you can't learn to sing instantly. And I have a particularly bad starting point. So, unfortunately, I'll have to stick to dubbing the songs. Oh bring it on, if you think your voice is the worst voice I've heard! in the past five contests there were a few tone deaf people. they all had fun though. and i enjoyed listening to all of them...

It should be of a decent length, I don't set a minimum, but if you want to sin a 15 second bit of a song, I'd ask you also sing something else that is longer. Most these decisions are made in a case by case basis, Use your best judgement.

Is it also okay to sing over the real vocals? Because I'm sure I can't find an instrumental for a lot of songs

Many song have either a premade karaoke version or an instrumental version on youtube. if that dosn't work if you are lucky, you can find a recording where the vocals are easy to remove with a filter,
I've had a couple people that hid their singing under the original singer. I asked everyone that did that to make a new version. All these distinctions are made in a song by song basis.

A few things to note
About naming conventions When upload a song I'd like you to name it "song-artist-VOCALS" for the vocal only submission and "song - artist-MIX" For example if you sang "Mad World" by Gary Jules, you would upload "Mad World - Gary Jules - VOCALS" I would also appreciate if you upload a text file with your steam name, the favorite song you've covered, and if you want you name relieved after the contest ends.
