but one thing does not justify another, the game is much better than the movie!

I think the hate stems from RE5, many people didn't like the shift from survival horror to what is essentially an action game with only minor bits of survival horror. Personally I think 4 was the downturn in the series. I don't mind the newer games though.

I like the games, I like the movies ;)
Played RE6 yesterday, still havent completed the campaign. Played Revelations last week, still need to finish as well. And got Raccoon and RE4 which I havent touched yet at all. Though I think they aren't really good games I do enjoy playing them occasionally and will finish them eventually. (Havent played coop yet). Been a "fan" of teh series since the first RE was released on the psx.

Play Operation Raccoon City soon, as it was one of the games that used GfWL, along with Resident Evil 5.

Yeah. Bloody sucks. It was kind of fun, though do wish it was more popular for the multiplayer, and soon that will not exist.

Because it might be named Call Of Resident as well.

I finished it about 1-2 weeks ago, and actually enjoyed it, but I see why some people may not:
Controls - generally they are OK, but they tend to bug out just when you need them the most - QTE/Sprint events or scare-jumps.
Story - I played most of RE games, so I'm used to absurdity of it's story, but for someone new it may seem strage how game looking so seroius have so absurd story.
Differences in gameplay - Each campaign plays quite different. I personally enjoyed Leon and Jake (as these two were most oldschool) and hated Chris (as it felt like CoD with zombies, not a RE game). But I may also understand that younger generation as well as people who only played RE5 may find Chris ok and then wonder what the fuck is wrong with other 3 campaigns.
CAPCOM DLC Policy - just look at DLCs for this game. Buy our full price AAA title then pay this much again to get countless bnumber of aesthethics, items and even minor play-modes and changes we cut from main game just to sell you separately.

Almost forgot about the controls which can be quite confusing at times. Especially inventory management :x The campaigns did play quite different (at times), but they didn't seem to last long enough for me to really care about what was going on or who the characters were lol.
The DLC policy is garbage, but at least the game retailed relatively cheap.

Yeah - inventory management is plain stupid, but if you get used to it it may work - BUT! The real pain in the arse are events / some boss fights / QTEs / sprint sections - your camera changes in weird way and if you don't adapt right away to switched controls you're dead. It's even worse if you play on mouse and keyboard - controls in fixed camera are shit then - in last Chris Sprint scene I died like 15 times because of shitty controls making me run into walls. And sorry, but playing shooter on controller just for such events is B$ -.-
I actually liked shorter campaigns, as it let me play the game in sessions - each weekend I'd finish 1 campaign and I'd not feel out of my immersion :> Excluding Chris storyline ofc - I really really really hate MMS and will never forgive turning my beloved RE into one, even if in one campaign.
As for pricing - you're talking about multiple sales etc, but it went on only few months ago - ppl who bought it on release were screwed, especially ppl who bought it on console. My ex-roommate bought it on day one fpr PS3 (I didn't play it back then, as like I mentioned - I will not play shooters on controller ;p), he paid almost 50 Euros for it just to find out he must buy then DLCs for multiplayer competitive modes for 5 Euros each... -.-

I am unfamiliar with MMS, what does that stand for?

I can give you 5 reasons:
1.) Toooo many characters.
2.) Toooo many unnecessary gameplay features.
3.) Toooo much action.
4.) Not enough zombies (I'm so sick of these Majini people).
5.) The most disconnected story I've ever seen.
Personally, they should have just stuck with two characters and a lengthy, well thought out story. One that made sense and felt like it had a beginning, middle, and end. Not this disjointed Rambo shoot em up that jumped all over the place.

True, it could have been worse. But at least we would have connected with the characters better! Chris was in Resi 5, so I reckon they would have stuck with Jake or Leon for Resi 6. It's nice to see the stories of all the characters cross paths, but at the same time it's a seriously lazy way to just re-use levels players have already seen :P I believe they didn't go big enough in terms of narrative.

It was kind of cool but you have to have a friend to play with because almost nobody plays online.

The point is that it is less horror than RE1-3, or even 4 for that matter.

From what I have seen, the people that were disappointed in RE4, was because it wasn't 1-3, the people disappointed in RE5, it wasn't 1-4, and the people disappointed in RE6, because it wasn't 1-5. I have talked to people on this, and they generally say this, but without saying it outright.

Yeah, you don't hear much about them anymore because it has been a while since it's release, since then they kind of quiet down and either forget about it, or realize it isn't as bad as they thought.

i liked, its a good game. but since i am an old school fan of resident series, when resident evil 4 was released i think the name resident evil should not be used because there is nothing more like old residents evil games (ive played probably all the resident evil games).
But resident evil 5 and 6 are pretty fun to play in coop.

Because... Because RACISM! and FEMINISM and hargle blargle blargle, random blind hate because of something offensive in a game that's in a way already supposed to be offensive! Boobs! White peoples killin' da ethnically diverse peoplez! Oh noes, dead people back from death, ssatan!!! >:(

I didn't like RE6 as much as RE5, though most people hate on these games for game style switch-over (horror -> action based).
I have yet to get revelations, but i wont buy it untill it's really low in price, i bought full price RE6 and i sort of feel like it was a mistake i made. Even though i beat the game entirelly.

Revelations is a weird one.
I hated it at first, but it grew on me.
It's a port/remake of a game from a portable console, so don't expect the same kind of polish. Since RE4, we've gotten used to enemies reacting smoothing to being shot, staggering about, flinching, and otherwise behaving like living (undead) creatures. In Revelations, there is far far less of this, and early on it feels like the enemies are just bullet-sponges, soaking damage to an invisible health-bar before falling over dead. You really need to adjust your expectations and go in expecting a different kind of RE game.
After I got over my initial disappointment and came back to it, I enjoyed it for what it was. Pick it up on the next big sale, the price should drop down to below £10 by then.

-half of the game is QTEs
-characters behaving out of character
-no Claire Redfield, instead we've got uninteresting new chodes
-Zombie T-Rex. 'nuff said.
-boss fight with 1000 stages, leading up to said T-Rex (seriously, wtf?!)
-really bad graphical issues
-takes itself too serious
-3 campaigns, but some levels are just copy/pasted, you have to do them several times. Also there is one level where you are stuck and have to find 3 keys to open a door. The same thing in every campaign. Really creative.... said no one ever.

I have always respected the series but after I tried one of the earlier ones I never got back into it. I never could get comfortable with the camera mechanics.
Comment has been collapsed.
The early games were really the only ones that had the tank controls with the camera in some corner of the room. I couldn't get far in RE1 because of that. That and I lost my temper because I kept dieing in a room where someone was supposed to save me...

I particularly enjoyed the game, and sensational, but people who have not liked the game, wanted to understand!
